Cuttings
My family is trying to take some cuttings from my mother's Mr.Lincoln (for purely sentimental reasons) before we have to sell her house. My cuttings seemed to do well enough for the first 5 weeks and then the leaves became yellow and are falling off. Some buds appeared but now I'm not sure if they're going to make it.Is it too late in the season to try again?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Cuttings
Blooms, how long do we have before the house goes ? There are many methods we could use, how old is the bush ?

Re: Cuttings
A simple method I find works for me is:- take a cutting with a spent bloom at the top about pencil thickness and 18cm long, remove the spent bloom, remove all the leaves and side stems leaving only two leaf sets at the top of the cutting, scrape the bottom 2-3cm of the stem to remove the outer coating on one side and dip the stem in rooting compound, place the cutting in styrofoam box of river sand about 10cm deep, keep the sand moist and at this time of the year place the styrofoam box in a sheltered position that gets full sun. In summer I place the box under a tree that gets filtered sunlight.
For reasons I am not aware of some roses strike easily while others struggle. From my experience Elina, Pope John Paul 11 and Our Rosamond strike very easily while Double Delight is nigh impossible. All the minis I have tried strike easily particularly Figurine and Irresistible.
