I love Summer Song too Jordan. How do you find its fragrance, growth habit and health? LD Braithwaite I have considered getting too, for the future, its supposed to growth wide. Does it have octopus canes. Perfume is listed as moderate. How is the scent for you? Thanks.

hi silky,
summer song has strong perfume , a lot stronger on a warm day , bit of tea and ripe banana mixed in with citrus really hard to describe it smells different to me every time . as far as its growth , it forms a busy upright shrub and healthy too .
l.d. has a great dark blooms amongst austin roses , IMO the canes aren't octopus like , mine grows bushy and upright , silky i know you are a fan of dark red to purple tones in roses , and l.d offers that . as far as the scent goes . when it first open i wouldnt bother sniffing it at all cause you will be very dissapointed . but as the flower gets older it does have a medium tea scent . got to admit for fragrance wise its not one that i recommend . but the blooms alone and the foliage will win you over

Re: FEW ROSES AFTER THE RAIN
I really love Summer Song but I think I will have to move it in my garden because it just doesn't perform in serious heat. (It's in a pretty hot spot)

Re: FEW ROSES AFTER THE RAIN
I've had it 2 yrs. Like most of my roses it's had a tough challenge - rabbits, not-so-super soil etc. I noticed that in the heat the flowers weren't that big. It is in a very hot spot though with a lot of glare (and sun all day). I kept the water up to it this summer and it did better. And then a rabbit pruned it. I'm thinking I'll position it into a "morning sun only" spot for next spring/summer. (I saw one at the DA nursery and.... wow... *g* )
