Roses for north QL
I have a friend living in far north QL and she asked me what type of roses would grow in her garden. Since the climate is quite different from here I thought Id ask you all for your opinions... what roses are good, what will grow easily even in the garden of one that arent so good at growing anything *lol*
Cheers

I would tell your friend to contact Elaine at Trewallyn Roses in Bundaberg. This very old nursery would surely give the right advice for humid conditions in the north.

Riethmuller Roses have been reported as growing well right up the cape. There are quite a few people supplying plants up there as they strike well ang gow so well up there. Look on the net under Riethmuller roses, Wickipedia for information supplied by Eric Timewell.

This is my favourite Riethmuller - Cara Bella which is the pink rose in the foreground - just one bush.

Don't move yet Gary for I have a lot of very special Tea's ready for you next winter and a few unactivated ones budded last November.
Most are found varieties looking for a name but they do have study names. I'm sure you will have a lot of pleasure sorting them out.
silkyfizz, the Riethmullers are just about bullet proof. There is a garden in the Blue Mountains that grows just about nothing else.
In the health stakes the owner claims them far ahead of other roses, even the Tea's.
That being the case I would consider them OK in Melbourne.
Thanks for the pix Bonita18.
