Nice perfume too.

Maree you must be psychic, Queen Adelaide is on my list too. Mind you I have to do some culling, but this one looks and sounds lovely. Thanks Barbara. Any chance of some pics of blooms and the bush itself? Does yours have frilly/pleated petals and marbling?

Queen Adelaide = Yves Piaget, paul. One of Meilland's best known Romanticas.
I keep eying this one, but then get discouraged by widely mixed opinions.

The mixed buzz on gardenweb and HMF, silky. Have a look at member comments in HMF, especially. No one questions the fragrance and beautidul form, but I'm beginning to think it has other issus, including heat. It's hard to say, but whever I rush over to have yet another look at QA/YP (and every year I'm drawn to it), I come away uneasy.

Beautiful and more beautiful, Barbara. One could not ask for more. I take it you are a champion of QA? Would you care to have a crack at defining her scent?

Hi,
I just went out and had a sniff. She's got a fairly strong perfume - not far behind Oklahoma. I'd find it too strong to have a bunch in the house.

Woudl you say it was a sweet scent, or a lemony scent, Barbara? (and thanks for sniffing out the facts ;-) )

Re: Does anyone have Queen Adelaide rose ?
Betsy, I think I might bite the bullet and get it, but I need to shorten my list and extend my beds to fit everything in. Ah decisions, decisions.

Re: Does anyone have Queen Adelaide rose ?
Hi,
it cooks, but it's been so hot off and on here that they're all cooking. Currently the bush has stacks of buds, a few cooked roses and a few nicely open. I think it's a quality rose bush.

Trouble is, there are too many beautiful ones and I can't fit them all in. Should be a song "The Rose Gardener's Lament"...with violins

Re: Does anyone have Queen Adelaide rose ?
Maybe there ought to be a rose "lending library". Take out five roses for a year, then either renew them or return them to the library and borrow five different ones

Re: Does anyone have Queen Adelaide rose ?
Lol. I can just imagine the jostling in the line as everyone zeros in on the top picks. Bit like the Boxing Day sales.
What would they go for do you reckon?

Re: Does anyone have Queen Adelaide rose ?
Hard to say. You'd have your non-fiction section "Hey, they really ARE healthy and fragrant!" and your fiction section "Captivates your senses! Steals your soul! Sooo mysterious!" and science fiction:"Blue roses! They grow in total shade and clean your house!" Library members also have access to sedaled section of catalogue porn.
