hi from cold italy
I m Giulio baistrocchi i just came to know about your great site thanks to Isabelle Olikier Luyten, well always crazy about Clark roses, and the giganteas hybrids. i m an artist but been working for vivaio la campanella and le rose profumate di sandro glorio as old rose expert and salesman around italy in plant fairs and a short experience at classic roses from peter beale s. when was living in brasil i was fascinated by australian flora and fauna and will be there in australia in march and i will be delighted to meet fellow rosarians . i will be just in sydney but might come back if i find something interresting... In fact i will be going for a trip around the world starting from next tuesday and hope i won t be broke when i ll arrive in australia in feb march. for me old roses are connected to my french upbringing cause i studied in french lYcées, and part of my sucess in selling roses apart my obsession for old roses is a perfect french accent which might be annoying to some but very convincing.
My passion with roses started with my 2 grannies and the location is mugello tuscany where my maternal grannie Beatrice had to preserve some old houses for her offspring. these house were very old and in ruins. Inj these years it was impossible for a widow to run a business but she did it anyway. The other granny Lolita from a Brazilian english background did some gardens in the ambassies where she was following her husband. she had many horticultural books in english and started learning english in order to read these books. i hope i did not annoyed you with my bla bla i m too passionated sometimes.

Re: hi from cold italy
Ok neptune if you are going to welcome our new member Giulio and say he might meet a Spanish girl(senorita). I thought you could have at least said an Italian girl=Ragazza or an Italian Lady=Signorine. If it was a French female it is, girl=Fille and Lady=Madamoiselle(unmarried). Now if it is an Australian girl it could be HAE YOU or "Shella"
Should this go into the "Odd Ball" bit.

Hi Giulio,
I googled it and it's a beauty! I don't think we have it here - at least not by that name.

Re: hi from cold italy
Giuliobaist, welcome to the forum. As you mentioned being in Sydney next year I would be happy to meet with you and do a local rose tour.
I recently had the pleasure of speaking with two young French ladies working as Au Pair's (Spelling) for my daughter. They were delightful looking after the children and we were very sorry to see them return to France when their Visa's ran out.
