Spring Has Sprung
The white & yellow roses I have no idea what they are (If you have any ideas please let me know!).
The pink one is Skylark - Free from Treloar this year bare rooted, and I love it!! Not a huge pink rose lover but this I adore. Only planted it a month ago and already has 10 roses on it.

Nice trio, RosyTeesh! I have no idea what the msytery roses are, but the yellow one has an Austin-ish look about it. Any scent?

Re: Spring Has Sprung
Ack! It could be the divine JJ! I'm more accustomed to seeing her in cold climes, where she's bigger and more apricot than orange. (In the northern hemisphere I once had a first bloom that was deep pink! For a few day there I thought I'd struck it rich with a JJ sport, but alas no.)
YUM! if it is JJ

Re: Spring Has Sprung
I have never seen that do you have a photo? This one turns light yellow with some white edging. Sometimes the buds are pink, but I think that's because it is too close to one of my red roses haha. I have never seen it anywhere before and absolutely baffled!!

Re: Spring Has Sprung
RT, I took a photo and proudly uploaded it to gardenweb in the USA rose forum. That was back in 1999, Seattle in March. Of course the pic has long since vaporised - I should have put it up on helpmefind, but it was early days for that site, and not the go-to source and resource it is today.
But an American called Deana has uploaded her pink JJ to HMF. My JJ was much darker, a deep cerise, the whole flower the colour of the bud in this shot [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
PS" JJ is a mutable crfeature. There is a HMF pic (third page, I think_ that looks like a dead ringer for your mystery rose. Yours may not be JJ, but she's a hardf one to peg in a pic because her colour development varies so greatly, inlcuding solid colours and also bi/graded shades.

Re: Spring Has Sprung
Sorry I thought you meant the rose was called 'Divine JJ' haha!! Long week. The petals don't have the wavy effect of JJ. I do think it will be a common rose though because the place I bought it from doesn't sell roses that are too hard to get.

Re: Spring Has Sprung
Betsy I have just googled 'Yellow Just Joey' and I can really see the similarities. Although mine has never been orange, but that could be because it's so hot here. The rose opens up to be very very large if that helps at all.

Re: Spring Has Sprung
Yeah, it's fluffy but not deeply scalloped enough to be JJ, probably - although JJ blooms can be HUGE in Spring. The JJs I've known and loved also tend to be more oblong than round when they open.
At any rate, 'Common' roses are proven roses. Hey, yours is beautiful and (chants mantra here) FRAGRANCE IS EVERYTHING

Re: Spring Has Sprung
Here is a bit from HMF about 'SS', Also I think Warren grows it
Gwen Powell grows 'Stainless Steel' in her crowded Los Angeles area garden located about two miles from the Pacific Ocean and host to all sorts of rose nuisances -- powdery mildew, rust, black spot, aphids, thrips. The soil is sandy and lacking in nutrients and doesn't retain what nutrients are added, so she finds it's important to water and fertilize diligently. 'Stainless Steel' may get a little bit of mildew, etc., but overall Gwen says it's pretty hardy and a fantastic rose -- with the bonus of a strong rose scent.
Someone who grows this rose in Australia wrties: This rose is doing wonderfully well in Adelaide, Australia. We intend to exhibit it at the Spring Show.

Re: Spring Has Sprung
Dave I don't grow this one , but looking at its 1st generation crosses, there are some here at home which would do well with it. I wonder if we can get it in OZ

Last year in August my JJ threw up a bloom that was very pinkish. Here's where I posted the taken-a-bit-late-with-a-phone pic:

Re: Spring Has Sprung
Thanks Roseman I have only had powdery mildew on one of my roses before (Chameleon). But this year I have about 3. Do you know what causes it?
SS Was one of the first ones to flower out of my bare rooted this year. It's quite stunning.

Re: Spring Has Sprung
@ rosy...Powdery Mildew starts appearing with warm days and cool nights. Use Triforine, Mancozeb Plus or 3 level teaspoon Bicarb Soda to 1 litre of water and a few drops of Fish Emulsion.

Yes thank you! Very interesting. Have just finished spraying the affected roses and those around them. And then I had to spray the rest for aphids. Exhausted

Re: Spring Has Sprung
Thanks David a good read.
After doing so I went out and found that it has started on the usual suspects even though I thought we may be missing out on PM this year because its been soo dry.
