Modern Roses by the American Rose Society. The big hardback on amazon is $80 and upwards......but I am told that there is a smaller version with all the same details in it.....
you could also download "Melville Nurseries Pty Ltd" handbook of roses....

There is a pocket edition of Botanica's Roses. We have the large one and it is very good.

Hi,
I have the Pocket version of Botanica's Roses - also the large one. The smaller one is ideal for taking along when you're going shopping for roses. I recommend it.

Re: MIni encyclopedia of roses
Jordan, can I ask why you want mini encyclopedia. The reason I ask is twofold,
If you are looking for relatively new release roses they won't be in it.
If you are looking for older roses, modern, you are going to have to check the print date of the book.

Re: MIni encyclopedia of roses
Jordan, the pocket Botanica will be very good. Could you give me some idea of your meaning of old roses (date wise), that will also help name some books. Most "old roses" have been covered in "most" books, Trying to eliminate some books.

Haven't heard of that one before ; is that a new variation on " I have to go and see a man about a dog " ?

Re: MIni encyclopedia of roses
Hi jordan71,
I don't think a smaller one would have enough roses in it to be of any use. Even with the Botanica, you'll find many that aren't in it.
When I go to look at roses, I always take mine with me.
