Re: Rose Classifieds
Jordan has stuff to sell????
Heehee I'm betting he's sad to see the spot empty too! I will be making a list of roses that I should have cuttings available to share come winter, assuming they keep their roots firmly in the ground!

Re: Rose Classifieds
Mind you, all you clever folks probably not only have them all, but have gone on to breed new roses from them..

Re: Rose Classifieds
Me, Carole? Crazy about herbs and medicinal or food/fodder plants (my Dad has fits about my 'weeds'... lol...
I love salvias, have quite a few frangipani and hibiscus I grew from cutting... and any fragrant plants..mmm.. jasmine, aquilegia fragrans, violets... heck, if it grows and smells pretty or can be eaten by man or beast....
Selective creature me... not! I will have a go at growing most things from seed or cutting-except CACTUS!! Man I don't see the attraction there!
Mind you, after Yuki ate the Reine des Violettes rosebush, cacti were looking appealing for a bit...
but hey, the torn and tattered shreds that were all that was left above the graft, have sprouted and grown! I carefully and ostentatiously turn my head as I walk past her, and carefully pay her no attention at all
What about everyone else?? What do you grow besides roses??

Re: Rose Classifieds
Still haven't been able to work out a way to post pics, so I sneakily and trickily decided to get around it with my 'puter being none the wiser so my avatar pic will probably change frequently. The Bonica rose there is part of Tyler's Garden, the original garden where we buried our little rescued kitten Tyler after her injuries finally killed her... and who we named our property after.... That Bonica has been completely underwater a couple of times, and just keeps blooming sweetly. She is taller than I am now

Re: Rose Classifieds
Hey Jordan, I had a couple of cuttings of Daphne from a mate in Victoria but they drowned
I do have two gardenias growing nicely plus two young saplings of the native gardenia tree, the young trees are about 6ft tall now and I just noticed some buds!
...I will be trying to strike cuttings of my 'Climbing Manita', 'Climbing Jessica', Bloomfield's Abundance, Sunny South, Pink Prosperity and 'Felicia' soon, I know they have plenty of strong, developed growth, so if anyone wants any cuttings of those, I am happy to send some at that time oh and a little sprawling spreading dark red miniature.. no idea what it is but it's hardy and grows fast! ("poached red miniature" perhaps??) and Cecile Brunner is here if anyone is so unfortunate as to not have her!

Re: Rose Classifieds
haha, yeeeaahh... sadly, the perfume is divine!
I am so blessed here (apart from when it floods), we seem to be able to grow most tropical plants and still grow a lot of lovely English Cottage style, and we have enough frosts in winter, just for a few weeks, for some of the apples, peaches, raspberries etc as well. And of course I am always raking out the goats' night yard, so I have an abundance of manure once I pile it, dolomite and wet it, and leave it to sit for a bit.. fantastic stuff!

Re: Rose Classifieds
Deb, I didn't think you would get frosts up there. So I live and learn.
I grow all sorts of plants.
Gladdies are our latest addiction. We are in the process of lifting them to move to a more permenent bed. We put in about 400 bulbs last year. I am also growing some from seed and bulblets. More bulbs are at the top of my birthday list this year.

Re: Rose Classifieds
Perhaps it should simply be renamed "Classified Ads" and then I could advertise for an eyesome sort of thingo who could be down in the yard tackling the African Love Grass and the deadheading , as I keep a gentle watch over proceedings from the shade of the verandah whilst fanning myself delicately.....

Re: Rose Classifieds
What- and have nobody to fan you???? Me thinks you need to advertise for at least TWO!!
And if successful, I will place my order too.... mmmmm I need one that can repair/rebuild fences too...
Seems more like "Rosetalk Wish and Dream" list to me Carole!
I really like some of the new gladdys, love Dutch and Japanese Iris tho and anaemone...
My poor Japanese Windflowers failed to swim properly...
Sounds like you guys don't do things by halves Carole! Thassa lotta bulbs!

Re: Rose Classifieds
Somehow I dont think we are allowed to trade in men.
Apart from that can you imagine anyone, who owns one that does all the gardening and other garden work, fix's fences/rebuild. Hopefully cleans windows and has a mate who will fan us and top up glasses etc. All this has to be done for free. Trading him in
