Roses with good vase life
I saw Caroles post and thought we could all share our experience on roses with good vase life. As we exhibit, this is really important to us since the rose has to last and look good in a vase for several days.
A new one I cant go past is the Firefighter, an absolute stunner that have a strong perfume and seem to last forever and ever. It also get really long strong stems.
Jardins de Bagatelle (White with pink edges) and Pope John Paul II (white) are two roses that are quite long lasting as well as perfumed.
The Kardinals (pink & red) are two other ones that always performs well.

I remember Bruce in the past talking about Firefighter, I could be wrong but I think he was a big fan of it.

I have Firefighter as well, but mine doesn't seem to last that long. Love it though, maybe gets better with age?

Rose - Anna,
This is a great thread,
After all a lot of people grow roses not to just enjoy in the garden but also for indoors/vases.

Re: Roses with good vase life
Rosemeadow grew me a lovely rose on its own roots, "Royal Highness" it is a great cut flower, lasts quite a few days and has quite good perfume, sometimes stronger than others. It is very pale pink to white, depends on the weather conditions here. she has heaps of flowers all season through spring to Autumn and for those interested lots of hips.

Re: Roses with good vase life
Our Firefighter has been really good from the start, could be climate or rootstock?
One that surprised me was actually April Hamer, an Aussie bred rose. Really beautiful and also long lasting.
Also love Good Samaritan, we get roses in abundance of that one and often have vases full of that one alone. It has no perfume tho but a rich deep pink colour.

Ozeboy, would you be able to tell me why my firefighter doesn't last very long compared to Rose-Annas? I don't know what rootstock it is..

Re: Roses with good vase life
For me , I can't go past The Children's Rose .
Long stems , not many thorns , thick waxy petals and a rich rose perfume to die for ; keeps well as a cut flower too.
