Re: Finally! Some of my roses
The first of the two unknowns, is it an orange/apricot colour that fades as it get older?
Beyond Blue looks very pretty, does it have any fragrance?

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
It's bright yellow, until it opens right up then is slightly apricot, the edges are also lighter than the rest of it.
I'm not sure about a scent with the Beyond Blue, the flowers don't last long so I never really get a chance to smell them

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
That's what the lady at the rose shop said too, but the buds are very yellow until the flowers are a few days old. So confused!

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
Maybe it is throwing back to its heritage a little more, Dr Verhage is yellow that is my thought, I don't know what some of the more experienced growers might think

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
It's definitely not that orange. It's apricot at most.
I wish I knew what it was.
It was supposed to me Mr Lincoln

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
It's not 'Bella di Todi'. It's not in Australia. Yellow HT can be difficult to identify. To get a successful identification one needs to take diagnostic photos of things like leaves, buds, prickles, etc because blooms of most roses are so variable. I could say it looks like 'Charles Darwin', or 'Graham Thomas', which it superfically does, but I'd only be guessing. I believe there may be a more productive way to narrow it down. It looks like a recent purchase. Do you know where you got it from> If so, can you ask them where they buy their roses from? Most places seem to buy their roses from just a few places like Treloar Roses or Swanes. If you know where it came from you can check out their online catalogues to look for matches. For instance, Treloar Roses has a search by colour option and this is the link for the yellows they have on offer: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Re: Finally! Some of my roses
Hi Simon,
I know it's not Bella, it's just the closest picture I've found that it looks like.
It's definitely not a David Austin. It was supposed to be a Mr Lincoln, I bought it from Mt Tamborine. Very healthy plant at least!
I've looked through Treloar and also Magic Roses, but nothing similar stands out. One lady suggested Just Joey, but I think it's too yellow.
I'll try take some more photos tomorrow.

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
It's not 'Just Joey' either. Why is it definately not a DA? There are quite a few DA for which it would be a good match.
Re: Finally! Some of my roses
At just a guess, there are not enough petals. Unless there are some with lesser petals than the ones I have seen? (Still learning!)

Two pics with flash and two without. I'll take some photos of the stems etc tomorrow

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
I've never seen any I guess. Only the fuller flowers. Perhaps it could be then?

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
Could possibly be a DA then? It just doesn't look much like the one I have. But I'm still learning and just guessing.

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
If it is a DA then I got a bargain because I only paid for a HT haha

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
I doesn't look like one from the 2nd set of photos. It actually looks like 'Gold Bunny'.
Re: Finally! Some of my roses
The buds are slightly different from Gold Bunny, and it's a different coloured yellow. I'm absolutely stumped.
Also, is Gold Bunny a Floribunda? This one just has long stems.
Between this one (which was supposed to be a Mr Lincoln), the white one (which was supposed to also be another colour), the random pink and red ones that I have which were also ones that were incorrectly labelled, this is very frustrating
Hopefully you can help this mystery!

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
Hi Tish
This yellow rose looks like Candlelight to me. Mine is still very young, but characterised by very large yellow flowers (disproportionately large, given how small the bush is now)
Anyhow, check it out. The colour yellow is quite golden when it comes out, and it fades to a pale yellow.

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
I have asked so many people and researched it for so long. Very happy to put a rose to a name

Re: Finally! Some of my roses
tentatively mind you... you need to buy a named one and grow them side by side... yellows are notoriously hard to ID and can look different from location to location.
