2017 ROSE ORDERS
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows what's happening with Mistydowns Roses in Victoria. Have been anticipating my rose order that I placed earlier this year and received a general email yesterday saying they're no longer going to be able to supply roses - including orders already placed!! Eeeeek!
Now I have garden spaces allocated for my order, with no assurance I'll receive my painstakingly chosen list! Was actually hoping the email is a hoax but I haven't had the heart to ring them and find out what is going on! Love to know if anyone else has any knowledge about this! Cheers, Lillian

Re: 2017 ROSE ORDERS
Oh, dear! That's very sad and a big loss. Mistydowns had a good range of heritage/old fashioned roses, particularly Teas that do well in our climate! I don't know of any other on-line nursery that has as large a collection of Teas. And what will happen to their collection of heritage roses?
My order - Fortunately, this year was a smaller one than usual. The list ordered are:
Martha (Bourbon)
Kathleen Harrop (Bourbon)
L'Ouche (China Hybrid)
St Francis Xavier (Tea)
General Gallieni (Tea
Souvenir de Therese Lovet (Tea)
Clg Chateau de Clos Vougeot
These are fully paid for and have been since they were ordered early this year, so it's a little concerning about returns happening over next 2 to 3 months!
Any light you can shine on this would be a great help!

Re: 2017 ROSE ORDERS
Hi Lillian, I have just read your reply, I am going to ring them Friday to see if I can get some answers. I have placed a link below for Reliable Roses, I have not checked your list against it but might worth your look.

Re: 2017 ROSE ORDERS
Evening Lillian, one answer I got was "CLIMATE CHANGE"(LOL) at Springmount VIC. The Summers are to short.

Re: 2017 ROSE ORDERS
Oh, really!!!? I think there must be more to it than that. I'd guessed maybe not enough expertise and/or planning, but oh well, if they want to blame climate change! Thanks for following it up anyhow. Appreciate your time.

Re: 2017 ROSE ORDERS
Lillian, they do have the expertise, they have been around for about 30 years. As for the reason they gave me, I to think it is suss. I think they want out of roses and keep thier perennials. I think they have/had issues with plant material.

Re: 2017 ROSE ORDERS
My understanding is the new owner took on Mistydowns last year. I'd had no major issues with previous owner. Anyhow, I'll ring tomorrow. Need to know where I stand in terms of my order.
Thanks again for your help.

Re: 2017 ROSE ORDERS
Oh, all I know is that Mistydowns was taken over by a new owner called Peter early 2016 (from memory) with a promise to improve service etc. This was communicated via email which I no longer have so I can't give you more info than that really.

Re: 2017 ROSE ORDERS
I've just spoken to Peter who has assured me that they're trying to fulfil current orders (with support from other growers if needed) and I should receive an email to this effect by the end of the week. I didn't pursue reasons etc. Just would like to get my order of roses
