I added these roses to my garden today, I'm interested in your thoughts and growing experiences with these roses.

Diamond Jubilee (because it is on the WA Rose Society's page as a recommended rose and I want more good cutting roses)

Friesia (because I already have it and love the colour and hardiness)

Just Joey & Peace (because every rose garden I have had has included these two favourites of mine)

Holtermann's Gold (again because it is supposed to be a good rose for the vase, perfumed and a clear bright yellow)

Solero (because I wanted an apricot/orange coloured rose, good for cutting & perfumed)

So, what do you think? Smile

Hi Maryanne...as you have seen, Ausrose dobbed myself and Paul from being from WA........ the one thing I have found with roses is that they grow different in different areas.......I live on the coast and our soil looks exactly like beach sand, while Paul grows his from pots.......then there is you who probably have loam or clay soil(guessing here).....so a lot of the time it is a hit and miss to get a perfect performing rose for your area........ the amount of roses I have dug up because they didn't perform for me, exceeds over a hundred roses.....

I have grown none of those, but I've heard good things about Solero. And I love Just Joey, but some people think it's been propagated too many times and has lost it's vigour over time. So don't feel bad if it only lasts a couple if years for you. Not your fault!

Other than that, I know nothing about HTs whatsoever!

Hi Maryanne, Just Joey and Friesia grow for us here in Mudgee, our Just Joey is over twenty years old and looks & performs like it should. Friesia is sitting in a neglected garden, it just keeps living, a rose to consider is Frisco. One that you should look at if it is over your way is 'The Golden Child' have a look at the link below,

Yes my Solero roses are throwing up very pretty blooms atm.  Looks like a nice strong grower, I will see how it copes with our very hot summer.

Thanks David!  Frisco doesn't  seem to be available here, I've found one nursery that has The Golden Child, might have to have a trip out and a look!  Very Happy  I have a 15 year old Friesia and Just Joey in my garden that I transplanted from my previous garden, both doing very well

I grow holtermans gold, it is one of my best performers. It is a vigorous grower with outstanding highly fragrant blooms, on solitary stems, large blooms with a solid yellow.
