Mold Mildew
Hi All, I'm new to this forum and I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good solution to Mold Mildew on Roses? I have 15 roses and about 6 of them are currently affected by this. Please could anyone suggest a good spray as I have tried a couple of different types and it keeps on coming back.
I also have separated them enough for airflow and water them at night - Trouble is it's so humid lately I think this is why the mold is coming back?
If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.
Thanks so much, Jenna.

Re: Mold Mildew
First of.....Welcome to the forum, Jenna..... and like you , I am from Perth as well......
Just try hitting it with a jet of water so it washes off. That's all I do. It seems to get the idea of going away after about two blasts....

Re: Mold Mildew
Neptune as you are over there, your experience will come in handy for Jenna. Welcome Jenna.
Perth = humidity, I would not water at night, overnight water might be the problem, as the morning starts to warm up the water in/on the ground will start to rise and start the mildew cycle maybe.

Re: Mold Mildew
Thanks Neptune and Rosarian, I meant to write that I water in the morning not at night as I had read somewhere that it was not good to water in the evening.
I will try that method of blasting it with water as I had been avoiding putting water on the leaves because first off I thought that may have been the issue.
Do you think it would be viable if i got some spray also and sprayed them every 2 weeks?
Thanks again

Re: Mold Mildew
Welcome Jenna,
There are some sprays you can get which are good with regards to protecting good insects. Eco Rose is great and works for me, or should I say my roses! It is also safe.

Re: Mold Mildew
I spray with a chemical named Nimrod and it even keeps powdery mildew off Granada and Christian Dior and that's no mean feat.

Its called foliar spray....the chemicals sprayed on the leaf are sucked in by the cells of the leaf and feed the plant......similar to topical cream what we use......the beauty with worm juice is that you can use it at 100% or diluted down to 10% to make it stretch further...the other beauty of that product is that you can use it every day or whenever you like...... I know a grass growing company that has got rid of all its chemical fertilizers and uses only worm juice....about 2000lts a week....

Re: Mold Mildew
I'd like to give the worm juice a go but it is hard to find and it is costly over here on the darkside.

Doug, is there a worm farm over there where you can buy it in 20lt drums.....You can pick it up from 50c -$1.00 a litr...maybe you can sweet talk the owner into a deal...free advertising in the rose mag...... advertise to other fellow rosarians, etc....or if you have to travel, pick up a few drums

First of, Zoe...squeeze a full lemon in normal water temp to get you started for the day......then proceed with your morning cuppa and oats to see you thru the day and it will also take you to Bunnings to help find your GO Go......
