Anyone used Kelthane?

Paul have you read what this one is used for ?, does the label say it is used for killing/suppressing the bugs you want to get rid of ?

Insect Repellency: Testing has shown that several microorganisms found in worm castings are very effective repellants for a large array of insects. The worm castings activate the natural insect repellent found inside the plant to multiply to a level that can be detected by the insects and they depart. The effectiveness has been tested and confirmed for white fly, aphids, spider mites and various other bugs and works for all plants. The rate of repellency is in direct relation to the size of the plant. Spider mites will leave houseplants within two weeks, whereas white flies will leave full sized hibiscus in about three months.

Dominex Duo was recommended as a miticide but after consulting Dr Google, under ortimentals, is says nothing about mites, go figure. The other one, Omite, Iknow is a miticide, so I guess that will have to do,@ $70 ouch.

Very interesting John and definitely worth investigation. There is no doubt in my mind the use of environmentally solutions makes us all better off.

Afternoon John, explanations needed, being, how are the worm casting used.

worm castings/ worm juice is sprayed on the bushes at 100% late in the afternoon and no rain or watering for 24hours.....

Thanks John, Castings I thought was the soil from their home. Juice I understand, we have around 50lt of it at present. Have you "experimented" with this yet.

I use the juice, and never seen any mites here yet....it would probably a shock if I saw any.
The people who I get my juice from have being doing it for about 25yrs plus and are selling heaps of it...the grass farm takes 2000lts a fortnight, and the veggie farms take even more.....these places are getting away from chemical fertilizers and going for all out juice and its been a winner for them......

John on the dark side the best price I could find is $3.50 per litre and this was in bulk. i.e. 600 litres or more.

Doug, because it is cheap to me, I am not conservative with it......

for example.....in a 10ltrs pump spray bottle, I would put 2-3 ltrs in it.......in my 200ltr drum that I make my tea in, I have been known to throw in 100ltrs of juice......

To fast track the activity of the biology I add a small amount of fish and kelp powder to the worm extract at application time this food source wakes up the dormant organisms so they can start the job of rebuilding the health of the soil.

You can apply worm extract without a food source and the biology will come out of dormancy when it is stimulated by the plants or climatic conditions.....but not as fast.

Never add a food source into your worm extract drum always add the food source to the spray tank or watering can, if you add the food source to your drum you will activated all the biology inside the drum and any leftover extract will go off and be wasted

In my tea, I've added an aeration system which goes for about 24-36hrs to get the anaerobic system working...

Thanks John, so if I follow your method with a watering can(9lt) I add 2lt of worm juice, 7lts of water, The question then is how much of your fish and kelp powder do you add. This method can be sprayed on the plant at the same rates in a spray tank ? I guess

in the spray container , I add 500ml of seasol/kelp to the mix.....give it a good shake and a way I go.....

in my tea, I have fish emulsion, worm juice, kelp, brown sugar and every three months I add humic juice

Just a side note.....Seasol is a watered down version and is less than 100 microns to get thru the filters.....also they have added an element to the mixture to make it black looking as seaweed/kelp is not black , but a light grey color

Thank you for that , Doug......but as you know I am always fighting bad soil, alkaline water, salty conditions, tornado valley and I am always trying to find ways to improve conditions to grow roses

For a good priced product I am willing to travel John.

Picked up some Omite yesterday, the nice man from Muir & Sons, who quoted $70 over the phone, gave me a better price of $60 for 1kg. Lol must have given me a seniors (old persons) discount.

Paul, they don't sell 1 or 5 ltr bottles and if you go you supply your own drums.....with this product, you need virgin drums and cannot put anything else in these drums......to give you and example, I went an got 120 litre this arvo, .......so that is an idea of what you are buying
