Red-edged Yellow rose

Believe it or not but all these photos were taken of the same rose bush!
At first I thought it may be Victoria Gold because of the red edge inthe cool spring flowering, but the redness persists in the summer flowerings.
I have compared it to Red Gold flowering in Hobart in the Rose Garden, flowering at the same time as mine. They are vastly different.
In spring the yellow is very pale but the summer blooms are deep gold.
So what is it?
It has long straight stems. It is vigorous and healthy.

It looks very much like Tequila Sunrise, Dee.
But I'll bet it's not!!

I was going to say the same thing Val... another one I was thinking was 'Broadway'. Does it pong?

To all, I have had a sub in on the forum,my wife "Carole". This is from memory, not books. Pedro Dot bred "Tequila Sunrise". It appears to my eye it is not orange enough and the red tones are to red, I could be wrong, but will be corrected by others with more knowledge.

Bear in mind that this rose often has a very sharp red edge whereas Tequila Sunrise is more of a merging blend, at least mine is, although your second Pic of TS O40 looks more 'edgy'. But does your TS ever have a very sharp edge O40? As well as being very pale lemon at its spring flowering?

Oh, and it is very much a florabunda, quite a few blooms on a head. So Broadway does not fit either.

Dee, my TS has many many colour variations according to the time of year and the age of the bloom. I've just had a look, and the youngest blooms are an orange blend, followed by yellow with bright orange edges, them lighter yellow with red edges and through green with pink edges and then white. The amount of edging also varies, some are almost a blend and some are sharply defined.
A bit of a chameleon isn't she? Would you like a few more pics?

Hi Val,

If you are going to take a few more pics then include among them other features too like an old leaf, young leaf, new bud, bud about to burst, thorns, whole plant (for habit), stem buds in the leaf axils, and stipules (base of the leaf where it joins the stem). These other features are far less variable than flowers and less subject to environmental influences. They are also, more-or-less, unique for every individual variety.

HI all, can we send some pictures of this off to the breeder and see what he thinks if it is "TS".

Botanica lists 'Tequila Sunrise' as a HT not floribunda but it also says that while the flowers are held singly it can also have 'wdie, candelabra-type sprays...'. There is also 'Rumba', and 'Samba' (just going by photos in Botanica). I was also thinking Sutter's Gold but that is an HT as well.

Now I AM confused! O40, your photos of your Tequila Sunrise look very similar to my photos, don't they! The confusion arises though because next to my mystery rose bush I have what I believe to be Tequila Sunrise and it looks nothing like my mystery rose. Maybe my TS is mis-named.
I looked at Rumba on HMF Tas, and my mystery rose looks a lot like that too. sigh. At least it is not Samba or Sutters Gold.
I don't know what to think now.
I think I will study the leaves pics you posted O40 to see if the similarity continues.

OK, Dee. If you need any more pics just shout. You do get mis labelled roses don't you. I had what I thought was a Harry Wheatcroft and it turned out to be Oranges and Lemons. This was good, I wanted an O&L anyway!

I apologize to all, should have done homework before placing foot in mouth disease or syndrome. Have now looked at my old catalogues from work, Mr Pat Dickson was the breeder. Mr Pedro Dot had one with similar name which did not see day light in Oz

As an aside... Pedro Dot bred one of my all-time favourite roses... the smallest mini EVER!!! Called 'Si' (pronounced 'See' as in Spanish for yes). I haven't seen it for 15 years and have been looking everywhere for it.

Simon, did you see the plant or see it on paper or computer, 15 years ago makes it about 1994sh.
