Basal breaks on Young Lycidas
YL was the runt of the litter from Treloars. Two twiggy canes. Itty bitty little thing. Not that I'm saying it was supposed to be fat-caned, but this little one got lost in the crowd of bigger arrivals in the carton. Maybe that's what YL looks like in infancy.
But who cares, because yesterday I had a close look at the little twiggy thing, Blow me down, but there are SEVEN basal breaks on it! I rarely see BBs on my roses. I tell you, I fell about with excitement.
