Unknown red rose

My father bought this rose at Bunnings last year. It was in the bargain bin because the label had gone missing. Just wondering if anyone may know what it is? I guess it could be Kardinal. I am also wondering if it could be Camp David, although I haven't seen that rose for years.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated. The flower colour (hue) is a bit off as I took the photo in full sun at midday.

It doesn't look like Camp David to me, I think probably Kardinal.
But I should say that I am awful at ID ing. I have ruled out some of the reds by the bud.

I can't ID moderns at all. But to throw a spanner in the works; the local Bunnings had Camp David for sale last year. Also mangoes, in an area that gets quite a few frosts...

Yep it is definately a red rose.

Camp David and Oklahoma are both more luscious than the one in the photo.

I have a very nice red rose that I got cheap as it had lost its label. I just call it the nice red rose.

Thanks everyone! My first thought had been Kardinal too, but it didn't look quite the same as the Kardinal that I grew years ago. Maybe my original Kardinal was wrong.

Ian, unless I am wrong, Camp David would have a fragrance, If this is Kardinal it does not have fragrance from memory.

As you can see it is not actually red, as the petals are flushed with red-violet (a difficult to describe colour).

I'm sure everyone has a rose that has a name like that. We had a pink rose that we called the pink HT and a Ken Beck (name of the fellow who owned the garden where we got the rose from. Turned out to be Pink Chiffon).

Gary, something tells me Kardinal should have a flat head not pointed, unless the one we had as a cut flower was wrong. The rose "Mercedes" is related from memory, orange in colour.
Now if Simon could help, what was Dao's favourite red rose, not "First Red" was it not Kardinal.

Thanks all, Okay I'll go with Kardinal. I still say it is different to the Kardinal I grew when I was living in Toowoomba, suggesting that it had been wrongly labelled. It had always looked identical to my dad's Mr Lincoln, so perhaps this is what I actually had back then.

Mr Lincoln is very distinctive. Large rounded petal, enormous flowers, not quilled as in Kardinal... older flowers may reflex... its voluputous. Kardinal 'blues' in the heat to give that mauvey overtone. Its flowers last an incredibly long time on the bush whereas Mr L's flowers blow and shatter much earlier. Mr L opens to a large flat flower and the proportions of the plant are enormous in every way. It will throw long 6-8ft canes. Kardinal is much more reserved and branching. As David said, there is little or no scent in Kardinal whereas Mr L has a perfume to die for. Mr L's flowers look like black-shot silk. Kardinal's flowers are fire engine red with tendencies to orange. In fact, Kardinal has sported an orange version that lacks the bluing pigments giving it an overall orangy appearance. It's called 'Happy Anniversary' and you can see a photo of it, as well as my Kardinal plant's flowers on HMF. Kardinal's flowers are very hard to photograph properly because most modern digital cameras are unable to render the range of pigments in it properly resulting in blown-out reds but in these you can clearly see the purplely/mauve pigments throughout. These photos actually show it quite well. The best time to photograph Kardinal flowers is on a cloudy day with the white balance set to overcast or custom. You will notice on a lot of the photos on HMF the mauvy overtone. Camp David reminds me more of Mr Lincoln, however, I have never grown CD and so can't contrinute anything to this side of the discussion. I don't grow Mr L anymore because mine had RMV and it was chemically addicted...

Thanks Simon. Looks like my former Kardinal was actually Mr Lincoln. I grew Camp David once, but can't recall what it looked like. I seem to recall it was a very upright plant with quite high-centred flowers. Roses performed so well in Toowoomba on the red volcanic soil... the flowers were sometimes twice the size of normal. They don't grow quite that well here even with good feeding. I guess the cooler climate helped, but the higher humidity also meant that disease was more prevalent.
