LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
HI
CAn anyone spare some cuttings of Juane Desprez, Maigold or La Reine Victoria to sell?
Also, can anyone suggest a rose which has a strong old rose fragrance?

Re: LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
From which class are you seeking fragrant roses? It really depends what/where you want it as you will find a fragrant rose for all purposes.
Re: LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
If you can wait a little while I may have a few Juan Desprez rooted cuttings available. Meryl sent me some cuttings and I think a few of them have struck so I'll have some spares. Can't help with th e others sorry.
Re: LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
I really don't mind what class as I like them all. Same applies to 'what' and 'where', as i still have room for most types, only exception would be vigerous ramblers, but could possibly allow one of those.

Re: LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
It's hard to go past the fragrance of the HT called 'The Children's Rose' (The light pink rose in the forum banner) . Lasts nicely as a cut flower too. Lots of the older roses have amazing fragrance. A lot of the DA roses have great perfume.
Re: LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
Yes, I keep hearing people rave about its fragrance. How would you describe it's fragrance? Does it go by another name of Fredrck Mistral? Or am I confusing it with another rose?

Re: LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
Same rose... Fredrick Mistral is its o/s name. I would describe its scent as that of citrus blossom.
Re: LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
Sounds very nice. At the moment my favorite rose fragrance is 'old rose' and am looking for roses that have it, possibly Autumn Damask

Re: LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
I'll have some plants of 'Leda' ready in a while too... the original Painted Damask.
Re: LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
Have you seen HMF yet: This is the HMF page for Leda: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
It does sucker.

Re: LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
Yes, I've known about HMF for some time now, very useful site. Leda looks looks lovely and a lovely scent to boot. Yes, I'd love a cutting when they are ready Simon, thank very much, it's very kind of you. If I have some roses that you don't have and when they get a little bigger, you are very welcome to some cuttings. At the moment i have a couple of cuttings which i put into water and a couple have actually grown roots, so i have stuck them in the ground and hoping they won't drop dead!

Re: LOOKING for cuttings of various rose
Rosefan... go Bruce's plant. It will be far more established than my little cuttings. He's also on the mainland... cheaper postage... that bit of water between us is an expensive bit of water
