Looking for ID
I have been in conversation(computer) with Lucia about a rose that she found William W.A. She took a peice with some roots and it is growing for her. I mentioned that I needed photos of the plant all bits and peices. I said I would ask one of the "Tea Bags" and then thought of Pat Toolan over is Western Australia, so I contacted her and she said she would do her best, which she has. Below are the photos of the found rose and Pat's reply.

Hi David,
Now that we are back to normal internet speeds I can look at the photos. I believe it is Rosa canina but if the lady crushes the leaves and they smell like green apples it is Rosa eglanteria. Both were used as rootstocks in the past and both can have their seeds distributed by birds.
warm regards,
Pat

Re: Looking for ID
Thanks for this help David and for the info from Pat, I have tried crushing the leaves and tried a few peoples noses but there is no green apple smell. There are going to be some flowers shortly so will post some more pics and later of the hips. The flowers have a strong fresh sweet scent.

More info,
Hi David,
I passed on the photo to 3 other rose people and they all say Rosa canina which is seen in the Williams area quite a lot.
