Annie Laurie McDowell
Anyone heard of this rose being available in Australia? No hits on HMF sadly, except in the USA.
Sounds like the perfect rose, if there is such a thing. Continual bloomer, flowers don't ball, strong wafting frangrance, almost thornless, loves partial shade, and is virtually bulletproof in terms of disease resistance - from all (Internet) accounts.
If it's not available here, it will go on my list of "Things to Smuggle into Oz from the USA", along with Secret Garden Musk.

And David Austin's rose called James Galway! I had this whole scheme planned out for James Galway only to discover I can't actually buy it.
I think I will have to become a pirate so I can loot and plunder foreign lands for all the roses I want.
Arrrr me hearties!

Annie Laurie and Secret Garden Musk climber are worth making an unpaid appearence on Border Patrol, I reckon. We could go as a team, Zoe. I can distract the Customs mob with an ill-concealed smuggler's coat lined with semi-drugged reptiles. They'll wave you straight through.

Haha Betsy...and you will have to enjoy your roses behind bars! That'll work - NOT!
When I was a kid I used to watch the prisoners work on the garden outside Pentridge. They even planted climbing roses on the old bluestone walls.

Pentridge. Climbing roses. Does not compute
With the perennial problem of overcrowded prisons, I think I'll be out of the Big House innotime, perhaps with a fetching ankle bracelet monitor.
Back to Annie Laurie Mac: roseman was in contact with the esteemed Kim Rupert (Annie's breeder and a member of this board). You never know what seeds might float across the Pacific,eh?.

Haven't you heard, Betsy? Tony has Stopped The Boats!
We'll never get our illicit cargo now. Gardeners all over PNG will be rejoicing, though.

Lololol Zoe! Well, I'd be glad to see something of beauty at Manus. Don't get me started on the subject, or the whole board will go up in flames.

Aaah ... you wicked ladies make me laugh. Hope this site isn't monitored!!! More roses crossing our borders (via quarantine, of course) can't be a problem, surely!!!
