Well after my first crop of seedlings in 2012 produced flowers of little appeal, I relegated  the remaining seedlings from the same batch to the back of the greenhouse.  There they struggled with the neglect with some occasional slow release thrown their way but i felt very guilty that i hadn't given them a chance. I planted three of them out into a wine barrel in October 2013 and actually I am quite taken with these little gals..two quite different flowers from the same hip, the 3rd one yet to flower.. what do you think? early days to be sure (i.e., don't give up my day job!).  aloha x aloha # 2's flowers were damaged by prying fingers but probably not a good sign..

Caroline, were you playing with the petals on 'Aloha#2'. Please leave it alone and please let it live. When it flowers again can I/we have a shot of it. I would like to send the photo of to friends in the States.
I really like the colour, it will be interesting if it fades to a soft "butter" colour.
As for 'Aloha#1', I would like to see what comes of the flower when it is open.
