My Septre D'Isle finaly recovers
Last season my Septre D'Isle was in a bit of a state, to point of nearly being ripped up and binned. What a difference this year, she has come back beautifully, just about fence high now, and heaps of blooms.

That's just truly amazing, Paul. What was your recipe for such an astonishing comeback?

Re: My Septre D'Isle finaly recovers
Betsy, just before winter, I cut it back harder than usual, I then dug out around the plant leaving about 20cm-30cm soil around the plant. The I took to it with a pitch fork, forking it at the base as far as the fork would go in and worked my way up. then to the circular trench I mixed up a mix of Potting mix, some Soil improver, Perlite, aged Cow Manure grounded down to a fine consistency, Worm Castings and some 9 month slow release. Sounds like a lot of mucking around, I actually did the trenching and forking with the mix to all my roses that are in the ground, and I must say they have responded in a strong way. In my opinion, it was the best thing I did.betsyw wrote:That's just truly amazing, Paul. What was your recipe for such an astonishing comeback?

Nutrition plus aeration. Winning combo, and the proof is before our very eyes. I must do a lot more of the latter. Thank you, Paul
