Ozeboy's Sweet Chariots, so very sweet
Eat your hearts out, people. We collected the precious next-to-last pair of brilliant Bruce's Sweet Chariot babies on Sunday. I thought they'd be real newborns - au contraire, they're bouncing and beautifully leafed, and mine is already encrusted with buds and more buds.
I am just about to pot mine up into a 14" pot, in which it will be carried around like a princess in a palanquin as the early Spring sun moves. Pix to come when the buds open. Don't feel too bad - I'll be thinking of y'all when I take in that first whiff of exquisite forest violet fragrance.

Re: Ozeboy's Sweet Chariots, so very sweet
Well, just because it's two of my favourite people thumping the table...
Actually, I will take some pix pre-blooming. Sooner or later my SC is going to realise it's not in Ozeboy's Oz any more, and in the clutches of the Wicked Witch. Before it swoons with fear, I'll capture it and post.

Re: Ozeboy's Sweet Chariots, so very sweet
The Sweet Chariots I've grownwere cascading pompoms. I kept them in urns on pedestals, where the fragrance could waft straight at me. As I;'ve said, I don;t think of SC so much as a rose , mpre as an an unbelievably charming scented adornment. I attach a pic that captures that feeling, I think. OK, the basket is frilly and smacks a bit of, say, Martha Stewart, but you get the idea...

From the people I talk to in the USA say it is one of Mr. Moore's really good roses and believe it is one that can be truly grown in hanging baskets.

If one goes by consensus - from the serious breeders like Tom Carruth to the "man in the streeet" like me - I'd be willing to assert that it's Ralph Moore's greatest , most enduring accomplishment.

If you go to David's post above, click on Helpmefind roses
then click on pictures, up will come the Simon Voorwinde clone used to grow Betsy's Sweet Chariots. This plant has proven to be exceptional, I'm delighted with everything grown from Simon's plant.

And it may be classed as a "mini", but this plant is no mini rose, really. I don't liike minis, and I apologise to those who love and nurture them. I don't know what SC is - for me, it's in a realm of its own.
