Swanes Monday
Any special requests? I will be speaking to Finbarr, so now iS THE TIME TO GIVE ME YOUR QUESTIONS LIST.
Also: Ozeboy -if you are in the neighbourhood. We are two tall old ladies (oh god, not THAT old), and if you are around, we'll buy the coffee and hang on your every word

Re: Swanes Monday
Betsy, one question you could ask is what "new" roses they might be bringing out in the future. I do suppose you have told him that the young ladies will be attending at a certain time. If you warn him he "might" show you some things the general public might not see. The other thing i would do is PM Ozeboy and inform him what time you are going to be there.

Re: Swanes Monday
Twilight Zone is my first question. If I could buy one on the day, I would be joyous, and pay a premium..
Ozeboy sees this site. He should PM me. I am at his service.

Re: Swanes Monday
Roseman, I have PMed Finbarr, and he has responded graciously. He will be on site on Monday. I have advised that he is most welcome to hide out from the Tall Old Ladies, but he seems to be up to the job of meeting us . How dull for him, how good for us...

LOLOLOL Silky and Maree
Nah, forget notebook. I suspect Finbarr would rather see chequebook. Or credit card.
Okay, I have done two shout-outs for Twilight Zone, and no response.
Anything else 'behind the curtain' at Swane's that you guys want to know about?

I think you should find out what's "behind the curtain" and then tell us what's there so we can drool. We won't know unless you tell us!

I like Wendy's idea, lets find out what we have not seen yet as she put it, "behind the curtain"
It will be interesting to find out about "Twilight Zone"

Re: Swanes Monday
Okay, we'll see what Finbarr, aka The wizard of rOZe, has behind the curtain if he is inclined to say ;-)
I too want to see and sniff Bonnie Babes aka Perfume Perfection. I hear it's a blackspot magnet, but I also hear that the scent is unusal and divine (it does have Sweet Chariot in its pedigree, so maybe we're onto something here).
I have printed your requests, and charged the camera. If I leave both sitting at the front door, we have an iPhone as backup for the pix, and my fabulous memory as backup for the list. One of these two statements is reliable.

Re: Swanes Monday
One thing about going at this time of the season Betsy, may be getting to see which roses have more/less blackspot. Maybe Swanes don't have any spots though? Finding the horrors is just as valuable as finding perfect treasures, n'est pas?
I'd back your fabulous memory any day Lol.
Now that you mention it, there is a touch of Deneuve there....

Re: Swanes Monday
Betsy, have just caught up with this topic. Will phone you tomorrow.
What is your expected time of arrival Swanes. Do you want me to bring a loud haler to control the crowd?
I ordered '100 Not Out' through the Rose Soc to be supplied ex Swanes in winter. We have to support the Aussie breeders as well as keep Finbarr's nursery going. There's so many cut price nurseries in Dural, all battling for a dollar. The largest propagation nursery in Australia is very close to me but they don't do much with roses.

Re: Swanes Monday
Oh for heavens sake, silky and maree, stop with the Deneuve fawning already./ (although, you know, in a certain light, preferably complete darkness, you could mistake me for ....)
I've already got your inspection list in my pocket
Twilight Zone
Gov Macquarie,
Bonnie Babes,
Brigadoon,
City of Newcastle,
Gemini,
Heaven Scent,
Scentimental,
Sight Saver,
Summer of Love.
Social Climber
High Society
Bruce, I expect we should get to Swane's around noon, possibly earlier if the freeway stays clear. Given that other visitors will no doubt believe Catherine Deneuve has miraculously appeared in Dural, definitely bring some crowd control. Shoudln't be too hard to control Blind Freddie and his dog.
Seriously though, the small Dural nurseries might want to think about forming a co-operative - a single online presence, and a real life destination "rose trail"
Roseman, as to what's behind the curtain - remember "Little Shop of Horrors"?

Ozeboy/Bruce - just leftyou a PM with this message. I'll repost it here before going offline
To simplify matters and dispense with the need for loud hailers and search parties, let's say we meet up at the Swanes coffee shop at aroiund 11:45 - noon.
