Foliar leaf spraying

After listening to the head gardener of Flemington Racecourse , on how he gets the roses to look so good , i'm following his advice which was ( nothing unusual ) fertilise every three months and foliar spray once a week with seasol ). Okay i was foliar spraying but about every3-4 weeks . Haven't got a worm farm and Amgrow Harvest is too hard to find , so have been spraying with Yates Uplift , this stuff smells so bad it has to be good , or else i smell like a garbage disposal truck for nothing ( windy day ) . Its got your seaweed , fulvic acid etc , etc . I don't use chemicals so we'll see how this goes for BS ... fingers crossed ....

Now that we are into summer, when to spray - early morning, evening? If morning, how do the sun's rays affect the absorption of the spray?
If evening, would the moisture on the leaf surface encourage fungus growth? What do you think?

I would say before 10am if possible Silky and not over 28 degrees , from what i have read ..

Maree, are you spraying Uplift as well as Seasol, or in place of, Seasol?

Ok Girls, as a foliar spray, it needs to be applied prior to the Stomata and Guard Cells closing. They are the one's that let moisture/water in. It would be beneficial prior to warmth in the morning or as late as possible. Weather permitting.

Betsy, in place of Seasol , this stuff is like Seasol but better i think , but be warned ,wear a face mask if its windy , and likely to blow back at you , cause it smells disgusting lol . I asked Bunnings to order me the Harvest brand , but they couldn't because Amgrow would only supply a pellet full and they don't stock it . Roseman so you mean as early as possible , like 7.00am or something ?

Best foliar feeding time: 3:00 A.M. and 8:00 A.M. or after 5:00 P.M. Optimum time is normally late evening to early night. These are
the times that the stomata (the small opening on the leaves) are open. However. if the temperature is 80F or above, do not bother to spray as you will get little effect. The best temperature is around 72F or below.

Great info Betsy , i'm a night owl so 3.00am sounds good except for the creepy crawlies , insect and human types , so 8.00am and after 5pm sounds good, 72f is about 22c , thats good to know , thanks Betsy

Yes I agree Maree, walking into spider webs in the dark gives me the heebie jeebies, especially those orb weaving spiders towards the end of summer when they are huge. Don't even want to think about huntsmen spiders! After 5pm sounds perfect.

Orbs are pretty scary !!!!

I don't hate the spiders, just get alarmed when walking unawares into the webs. Go you Good Things !

On the other hand: If I see a cockroach, I need to drop a Valium.

Back on subject, I didn't quote too well above with a cut and paste, so need to say that theoptimum times are between 3 am and 8am, meaning 4, 5 , 6 am and 7am just fine

Good grief, no way. Seasol smells bad enough. Rosies will have to cope with Seasol, because I am going no further into rank sewage stink-o-rama on their behalf
