Pinkie is such a can-do rose. Never fails to impress when in full bloom, and this drop-dead magnificent specimen just goes to show once again what Goodies the Oldies are. Never understood why it fell out of fashion, and why more people don't grow this great little (not so little) climber.

Did you like the chook silky? Betsy it grows so easy from cuttings , this one was cutting grown. I used this one on Whiz Kid to get Hybrid Musk type roses in my breeding programme

Not to pre-empt silky, but I rather like the chook myself. Maybe new Treloar's bonus: free poseur chicken with every $100 rose order.

How old do you reckon those Pinkies (I assume there are two) might be, Ozroz? And have you shown us a pic of your Pinkie-derived hybrid musk x yet?

I think they were planted out around 3 yrs agobut not sure. The chook is for the no spray eco friendly pest destroyer. LOL

It's grown that much in 3 years??? Wow, must be due to the chooks I reckon, pests in one end, fertilizer out the other.

OMG, this one has just gone to the very top of my list. Thanks for posting pictures of Pinkie, Warren, what a stunner. I will definitely have one, to climb over my water tank.

Silky this is where I grow most of my roses out of town, roses just power away in this red loam soil.

Pinkies make great shady rounded moulds for dogs to lay under on a warm day. The big one I moved here was starting to grow well, and then the frost must have burnt it back, but luckily it had some leaves undernealt protected and its still growing now.

Indeed, quite so. And I have seen a Pinkie that mounded up and around and across in a wide arc over a long garden bench . It created a shady cave effect. Stunning.

Shady cave effects are badly needed in QLD, what a wonderful alternative to some of the climbing plants that so easily turn into weeds …
