Having sampled many new HTs from the Great Move Forward in the late 1990s (bred for disease resistance, toughness, etc), I applaud the great leap forward in breeding

Still, I think some of the older HTs are excellent, and some trump the new breeds for beauty, for character, for fragrance. Here are three varieties I've nominated (including one polyantha) in support of that rash claim. Please add your own choices. Or disagree ;-)
