Re: HONEY DIJON AND TROILUS
Honey Dijon will improve in colour and vigour with time in the ground. flowers produced in cool temps will have flashes of pink to the outside petals. doesn't fade.

Re: HONEY DIJON AND TROILUS
That's right Dan, not a true yellow, but looking at ancestry, it could breed some good roses. We might talk to the breeder of it.

Re: HONEY DIJON AND TROILUS
Certainly an unusual colour Jordan. Reminds me of Julia's Rose (now wasn't that a dud. Mine's still in the garden but not for long)
How would you describe its fragrance?

I hope I can prove you wrong Silky about 'Julia's Rose'. I have to prove to someone else wrong about her wimpy ness

Re: HONEY DIJON AND TROILUS
Roseman, I wish you would prove me wrong and then tell me what she needs. Mine is not only wimpy but stingy, weak and downright bloody-minded.Maybe I'm just not nurturing or patient enough.

Re: HONEY DIJON AND TROILUS
I adore Julia’s Rose, just adore it, even though it hardly has any fragrance …
I’ve seen Julia’s Rose described as super fussy, and it’s true that it’s extremely prone to sun-burning, and must be kept in shade here, but I wouldn’t call it fussy. It’s one of the most beautiful uniquely coloured roses I’ve seen, truly outstanding, not in focal point terms, but in its calm gentle effect.

The colours continue to change, but always stay interesting and warm.

I wasn’t sure how to prune her, so I looked for some suggestions and found to prune her hard. As I’m not that into pruning, I followed this tip for only one cane, which has stayed quite short, producing only singular blooms on new shoots, but this is the cane I barely touched:

Dan, I’ve looked at Honey Dijon many times, and its good to see more photos here. If I wasn’t headed for the OGRs, that’s what I’d have, for sure, because the colours appear as warm and soft as other roses’ only glow in twilight.

Re: HONEY DIJON AND TROILUS
We better start "Julia's Rose" thread and also one on how to transform people fro HT's and Floribundas to the world of other varieties. The world of the rose is huge, not only are there modern roses which came from ancient roses, some of the ancient ones are better IMO
