Re: Wedding Day Pix
Thanks Rosalie,
This is the one I have. I have a feeling it is Rosa longicuspis var. sinowilsonii... but 'Wedding Day' is a seedling of it and they are very close in appearance:

The new growth is very distinctive. It has a metallic sheen to it.

The leaflets are enormous.

I still think it isn't 'Wedding Day' but I have never seen WD to compare it too.

Re: Wedding Day Pix
They are quite different don't you think ? The centers of the flowers and the plummy new foliage are different. I have a couple of new shoots on mine but the leaves are beetle ravaged , however they are still bright green in comparison to yours.

Re: Wedding Day Pix
It was the beautiful plum-coloured new growth that started me thinking it was sinowilsonii. That, and the enormous leaves. I'm madly pollinating this rose now with all kinds of things... I'm quite infatuated with it at the moment. It's evergreen for me down here in Tas so further north it would look lush all year. It doesn't sucker [EDIT: yes it does ] and it sets hips easily and it grows like stink on a skunk! My plant is only 2 years old, from a tiny 30cm cutting, and is now more than 10ft x 10ft and covered in flowers.

Re: Wedding Day Pix
Yes, but it produces such a mass of flowers that it seems to go on flowering for weeks almost as if it is recurrent.
Re: Wedding Day Pix
Rosalie - what do you think?
The buds seem the same as yours - a touch of pink and glandular.
The stamens don't seem to fall off like your one does though?
The stipules are definitely fringed.
New foliage not as red as the one Simon has.
