Feel free to start a new topic... Empty button hole rose recommendations

Post by wphvet 25th January 2010, 13:13

I am getting married soon, second time to a lovely lady with very green thumbs, and was wondering what the group can recommend as a button hole rose flower.I note that Theodore Roosavelt always used Duchesse de Brabant, which we have, but I'd be interested in any suggestions. My suit is charcoal grey, light colour shirt with a bit of purple in the tie.
Is this off topic enough Simon?
Cheers Stephen

I second Cecile Brunner as a button hole rose. This rose flushes in spring then always produces a few blooms right up until a second autumn flush.

I have a really good CB that seems to bloom more than others. If you settle into permanent accomodation would love to give you a CB plant from this bush as a belated wedding present.

As time goes on you will realise there are better clones to breed than others. That is why I treasure a lot of roses I have here for propagation.

FWIW I would like to put forward the rose "Precious Memories" (DIChello) as a nice choice for your button hole rose Stephen:

Not too big or too small I think the colour would blend well with a bit of purple & charcoal grey. The rose plant itself could be kept as a constant reminder of your day because of its name! All the best to you & yours! Smile

Both look nice. We had CB on our wedding breakfast tables. It's also called the "sweetheart rose."
All the best for a great day!
