"Icegirl" shocked me today...
I bought "Icegirl" when it first came out & lost interest in it because it arrived in bad condition. I potted it up but only recently began to look after it. It probably flowered before but I never noticed...until today! What a lovely rose (plant & bloom) & OMG the scent. To me it smells just like "Double Delight" (tangy lemonade).
It has been a day of "wiffyness" rose-wise. The rain has brought out the scent of the sweetbriars that grow feral everywhere around here (the green apple fragrance fills my house) & "Soliel d'Or" bore a pongy bloom for me to enjoy as well.
Has a rose shocked you lately?

Re: "Icegirl" shocked me today...
'Scabrosa'... one of the most beautiful roses EVER... mine has surprised me this year as it more than doubled in size and has bloomed non-stop allowing me to perform 35 individual pollinations on it... and there are STILL huge purple/pink flowers the size of saucers coming on that smell great too Doesn't quite count as a modern rose though does it

I agree that "Scabrosa" is one of the most beautiful roses ever Simon. I had it once & will get it again sometime no doubt.
Ummmm I was thinking (too late) I should have put this topic & my question somewhere else but "Icegirl" is modern & my brain stopped there.
