Winter Delivery
This is the start of the deliveries of new roses for us. These are from Treloars and as usual the quality is great.

Re: Winter Delivery
John, one of the new one's is called "Blackberry Nip", it's out of NZ by a fella named Rob Somerfield, have you come across it yet over there. Again I am not sure whether "purple" goes on the bench.

Re: Winter Delivery
We tried that one a few years ago, but it did not work for us as a bench rose. Didn't hold its form long enough....see if I have a photo
Forgot to mention that the blooms were real small as well

Re: Winter Delivery
Yes John, we are looking at it as a cheap sourse of cut flowers along with others. The main critera is that they have fragrance and some holding qualities.

Re: Winter Delivery
Funny story about this. I checked my credit card statement the other day and noted that Mistydowns had taken two amounts out of our account. I rang Judy and apparently I had put two orders in (one back in November that I had completely forgotten about). There were a couple of duplicates in the orders so I must have been thinking of the same thing both times.
Anyway what I have ordered is
New ones for us are:
Mme Driout CLG
Nathalie Nypels
Paul Lede CLG
Ones to replace others
Mme Jules Gravereaux (The original was pulled out by mistake to make room for another rose. I though we had another one in the garden but unfortunately we did not).
Octavius Weld (the one we have looked sick last year so I ordered another one but now the original is looking fine so we will now have two)
Riverina Sunset (BL) (we had this one in a pot and looked really nice until it did not receive enough water. This one will go into the ground)
Mrs Reynolds Hole (lovely perfumed rose but not particularly long lived up our way. Lee loves it for the scent so we persevere with it)
Ah Mow (BL) (Only a small rose and the one we had was hit with the shovel by mistake when taking out a shrub that was going beside it)
Lamarque (these seem to last about 10 years at our place and then die. Has happened twice. We lost two within a couple of months after they looked fabulous last spring. The last couple we had did the same thing).
Oh yes and we have a couple of Red Pierres coming form Treloars. We are going to put them on pillars to "lift" and area of pink and white roses. We have also ordered Angela (nice pink shrub) and Florentina (another red climber for another pillar) from them as well.

Re: Winter Delivery
Gary we have had RED P for a few years now and it is a good performer, it pushes out great growth during the season.
We also have Mrs Reynolds, love it. Gary do you know much about Paul Lede, I have been looking at it for ages and never seem to purchase it ?.

No I don't know anything about it. It looks nice and thought I'd give it a try. Not sure where but I will find somewhere.
