2016 Rose Order(s)
Yes you are going to say I am mad(yes I know that, you do not have to tell me). I have started to compile my list for the coming Winter. This came partially due to a conversation I have had with Gary via "PM's". Gary has very kindly taken some cuttings for me of a couple of his roses.
I had a part list from one's that had been sold out last Winter, these added to a LARGE list compiled over the years, which I am trying to cut down, (HaHaHa). These are a few, no specific group.
Augusta Luise, Vienna Charm, Nyveldt's White, Quatre Saison, Botzaris, Macrantha. Dainty Bess, Ghislaine de Feligonde, Hugonis, Golden Chersonese, Canary Bird, Golden Moss, Agnes, Mermaid, Mrs Oakley Fisher, plus a handful of David Austins. There are others on another list, which I will add later.

I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure everyone has a wish list. I just saw a photo of the new Australian mini flora Gra's Blue. Very nice.

Re: 2016 Rose Order(s)
I have vowed and declared I will buy no more new roses. I do have a good supply of rootstock so the AQ may bud up some Australian roses for my friends. One she has budded up is Governor Marie Bashir these are for the former governor's family.

That's another beautiful one there, Ausrose. Dame Marie is a definite for my garden. What rootstock do you bud onto?

Mine is a pretty random list, with a couple of HTs like Governor Maquarie, a mini (Sweet Chariot), some scary ones like Mermaid, a few once bloomers like Raubritter and Variegata de Bologna, quite a few climbers and the bush version of Cecile Brunner. This is my "one day I'll run into them and they will jump into my shopping cart" list.

Louise
I bud onto Multiflora which is the best rootstock for the slightly acid soil of the east coast.

Variegata de Bologna is said to be the first recognised sport
being that of Victor Emmanuel.

Re: 2016 Rose Order(s)
Ausrose, it smells divine too. I would not mind at all if it reverted back to Victor either. Both are pretty.
I want it to replace Guy Savoy, a modern striped climber that I bought last year. I fell in love with his blooms at a rose show last year, but the colour is a bit too modern in my garden and it looks a bit vulgar. Haha.

Zoe, are you still thinking of the "back" fence with roses, I have some "triffids" which are needing new homes, they have grown from layed canes from the mother plant. I will take a photo of them today and post here.

Hahahaha triffids Yes, still hoping to smother no-mans-land in roses - perhaps I will put Guy Savoy up there and let him fight it out with the likes of Mermaid! Hahah.

Re: 2016 Rose Order(s)
Okay. For the first time EVER I have made a rose order EARLY. Instead of "this is the last week we're selling bareroots for the season so don't miss out".
*Because*... for the last couple of years I've MISSED OUT on the ones I really wanted. NOT THIS YEAR. *insert mad, cackling laughter*
My list (if you care):
Veilchenblau (cl)
The Opportunity Rose (an Aus rose..)
Freycinet
Souvenir de la Malmaison
Pinkie (cl)
Crepuscule (weeper)
Zephirine Drouhin (cl)
Parole
Mornington Rose (Aus rose!)
PLUS! I complimented them on adding the Aus roses AND then pleaded with them to get Warren's roses BECAUSE I WANT THEM.
So, if anyone else is buying from Treloar's this season -- mention Warren's roses too and maybe they'll start to listen!

Yes I agree Wendy, Warrens roses should be sold within Australia by Treloars or at least someone. I am of the understanding he has some at the National trial grounds and a "few" at Treloars under going trials with them.
I have from your list Parole, Freycinet, SdlM and Crepuscule, they are excellent roses in my climate Wendy if that helps you.

David forgot we have Zephrine Druin but we do not have Parole we have Sweet Parole. Parole is going on this years list along with many others.

Re: 2016 Rose Order(s)
I have Sweet Parole in a pot (got it last year) and it is doing well.
I've taken to putting the new bare-root roses into pots for their first year. Plants with a rootball seem to adjust better to the pH shock here.
SdlM I actually have/had but it's near dead (if not completely dead) courtesy of the rose weevils so I thought I'd just get another.
I lost my Crepuscule weeper so I'm having another go...
All I have to do now is get some couchgrass under control.

Re: 2016 Rose Order(s)
AutumnDamask, if you use sprays, Fusilade will kill off the couch and not damage the roses. It only hits monocotyledons.

Re: 2016 Rose Order(s)
Spray's, not those bl**dy sprays. The Americans have been trying to overcome "Colony Collapse Disorder" in their honey bees and consider herbicides a major reason for this problem. They have developed GM seed crops herbicide resistant so when they spray the complete crop only the weeds are effected. Since this practice has increased so has the CCD. Despite claims herbicides are harmless I'm using them all sparingly be they Roundup or Fusilage.
