Miniature 'Sweet Chariot'
Does anyone grow this little rose? Bruce?
Looks interesting. Hoping someone can share their experiences.

Re: Miniature 'Sweet Chariot'
Mememe, Zoe.Got two plants from Bruce last year,in answer to long-standing prayer for SC,
Adorable little floeers, little leaves. I would call it more of a polyantha, because it can grow quite large. Very bushy, flowers span the spectrum of white to deep purple, with mauve blooms and pink blooms in between.
But it's the smell of this one I love. It throws to Parma violets. Mine still has a lemony note, which I hope will go away this year,
Go for it.

Re: Miniature 'Sweet Chariot'
There is a second rose named Sweet Chariot this being a shrub that was released by Poulsen in 2002.

Re: Miniature 'Sweet Chariot'
The Poulsen one was named Anjou originally. Orangey red, no fragrance. Don't know why it was redubbed Sweet Chariot (in the UK, apparently, with a complete failure of imagination). I am assuming , Zoe, that you are referring to the great little classic Sweet Chariot by Ralph Moore.

Re: Miniature 'Sweet Chariot'
This is the problem of duplication of names either when registered or renamed. From what I can work out any rose that isn't protected under PBR or Trade Mark the name can be used for another rose. The rose Betty Cuthbert comes to mind.

Re: Miniature 'Sweet Chariot'
This tall, Zoe This is the bigger 2 year-old 70cm one, which I've just dragged out to the back path to shoot . It will widen this year, I think. That's SC;s habit, anyway. The other SC is on the back deck in a spot so crowded I can't get a decent shot, but it stands smaller, at 40cm so far. It wants better accommodation.

And will get bigger. Also imagine if it were in theground instead of confined in a pot.
When it's blooming, I'll grab another shot for you, Zoe.
