Problem with Sweet Intoxication

Hope somebody can help as I really like this rose.
Even with a heavy dew the roses bend just below the flowers and are ruined. Is this a genetic thing do you think or is there something I can do to strengthen the stems.
I will shovel prune it (as you say) and replace it with something else if there is no cure cause it sure is a terrible sight to see all those roses gazing at the ground and not a stem long enough to pick for inside.

Everyone here knows my opinion on SI and the shameless, breathless marketing spin that has promoted it.

How old is the plant?
Is it in the ground or in a pot?
How has it been fertilised?
What is the watering schedule?

SI was planted in the garden in late July 2012. Bought as a 2yr old bare root.
Fertilized 3 times a year. Spring. Mid summer. Autumn.
1/4 cup Epsom Salts
1/2 cup of blood and bone.
1 to 2 cups of granulated super
Topped off with a good shovelful or more of composted cow manure and same of aged mushroom compost.
Then mulch of whatever is at hand.
For the rest of the time a spray whenever I think about it with worm pee.
As for watering well He who lives above has taken that task into his own hands and he obviously thinks that Roses love to be drowned. I am not whinging. Not after 30yrs of drought with just a drop or two to tease us.
Have to admit this is the only rose I have grown (and that is not many to date but big plans for the future) that I have had this problem with. Wonder what I have done to change the font on this last bit. Computers are a mystery to me.

Has it always had a "weak neck" or is it only at the moment?

What I'm thinking is that there are many variables that can affect the way a rose grows - the season, nutrition, wet/dry feet etc etc

I don't shovel prune like the others - I dig up and shove them in good potting mix in a pot to see if they pick up.

Always I am afraid. It certainly has been an unusual year weather wise so I will give it another chance. Maybe after a prune soon and a bit of time to think about it's disgraceful habit it will buck up. If not I will do what you suggest and pot it.
