Climbing Comtesse de Labarthe/Duchesse de Brabant
Hi folks,
Just wondering if anyone grows the climbing sport of the lovely Comtesse? If so, how do you rate her? Is she as floriferous as the bush?
I'm looking for a pale pink climber, preferably china pink, to go next to my Reve d'Or. I'm tossing up between the Comtesse, La Fance climbing, or Mme Caroline Testout. Please tell me about these other two if you grow them too
I would really like something like Cl. Cecile Brunner, but apparently her repeat is poor/non-existent. Any comments on that? I want something that can keep up with Reve d'Or.
Cheers!

Re: Climbing Comtesse de Labarthe/Duchesse de Brabant
We grow the climbing version and it is generally not quite, but nearly is, as good a flowerer as the bush version. We have one growing on a trellis and a couple on stands.
One of the stands

The one of the trellis

We also have one that was a climber but was "heeled in" in a spot in the lawn until we had a garden for it. We never found a spot for it so stayed there and we have built the garden around it.

Not sure what happened to my photos. I used the same method of inserting them as I always have.
I have added them to the bottom of our Gallery

Hah I bet it's Neptune up to his tricks again
I can see the pics, sometimes they take a while to load up. Perhaps John is innocent after all? (Ha, as if!).
Thanks Gary. Gee, she is lovely. Is she a good smeller? If she is, I'll plant her as a bush so i can sniff her. If not, perhaps she can go up the back with the Reve.

Yes she has a beautiful "citrus" tea scent.
So far as the photos are concerned I logged out and back again and the photos were not there. As soon as I put the next post up they appeared.
