Victorian Fires
Hello to all in Victoria. Most are in the suburbs, are you effected by the fires, but Wendy(AutumnDamask) is in the bush, I hope she is OK.
How are you Zoe, as they said something about East Dandenongs ?

Re: Victorian Fires
Hi Roseman , i'd be interested to hear how the other Victorians are going too , yesterday was the day from hell , we live on the fringe of suburbia ,a grass fire broke out nearby , so there was smoke and fire trucks going everywhere , really scary , all under control fairly quickly , but the hot wind was the killer , broke off the branches of a lovely Crepe Myrtle , now gotta get it out of the ground , drat , today so much better weather wise , hope everyone else is okay

Re: Victorian Fires
We're okay. Had a little scare yesterday when a small fire started at one end of our road. (Why someone felt it necessary to go and put fuel in a water pump at 11am on a day like that.... The petrol spontaneously ignited..) Thankfully the fire crews were over it VERY quickly and it was all out in short order. Bonus was that the wind was blowing it AWAY from our direction.

Re: Victorian Fires
OMG Autumn, that's a horrifying scenario. One spark on a day like that and suddenly a fire raging out of control. Thank goodness the fire crews were quickly on the scene both at your place and Maree's. Day from hell is right. Poor buggers that have lost houses. Friend of ours lives next door to a national park in East Gippsland and was on high alert but OK for now.

Re: Victorian Fires
My gawd, and I just got through writing some drivel about my crispy flowers. Who cares?!
I knew from the news that Vic.was in strife, but I didn't realise that maree and Autumn were experiencing their own personal brushes with fire. Very, very scary. Plenty more crepe myrtles, not any more marees and ADs, and very good (if annoying) that only a tree has to be replaced. I imagine that the smell of smoke lingers in the air...

Re: Victorian Fires
Oh, I have been thinking of you all down there in Victoria after hearing of the extreme weather you're all experiencing (again). Have experienced some ghastly bush fires when living in the Hills district near Sydney and there can be nothing as scary or devastating.
Please stay safe ... as betsyw so eloquently said, shrubs and trees can be replaced ...
