I had a strike rate of 1 in 10 balls which is pretty good. That's one ball on the pitch in every ten!!! Some were this wide
  
The ROR will probably last forever unless they can find the original identification or I guess until someone registers the name.

I did forget to ask who the 4 legged one's are ?

I meant registering it like you actually bred the plant though I am not sure if you can register a foundling. It is a different situation to an OP plant.

The four legged fieldsmen are Jack the brown one who just turned 13 and is deaf as a doorknob but loves to chase a ball and in fact featured in two dismissals by catching the ball, Ruby is the "red" one and was down there to make sure the dogs from across the road did not join in the game and Zephyr the black and white is their son and whose sole purpose in life is to beat Jack to the ball and to generally annoy his father. Just like ours who ran me out when I was on my way to a century (actually it was a first ball run out but I did have the intention of making a big score).

Hi Gary, I have just re=read your'e post, animals are a very important part, to make up the team numbers or someone you want to talk to quietly when need a good result to a the question put to them. Those three are lovely.

What's ROR (rose off register?).

The arches look fabulous , and look at the nicely mown grass , impressive , i do think ....

Love those arches. What a tranquil spot to sit and ponder. Someone's been busy mowing that lawn to set everything off beautifully. Nothing like an expanse of green to set off roses, or any plants, I think.
And that cricket game looks like great fun. Better than the MCG. The dogs certainly think so by the look of it! Bet they slept well! And you too Gary.

ROR stands for "Renamed Old Rose" and is placed after the name given to the plant which is usually the name of the garden owner or the location it was found or in the case of found cemetery roses the name of the persons grave on which it was found.

Poor old Jack was a bit stiff on Christmas night and spent yesterday asleep.

Although I have better than average knowledge of roses it is remarkable how much I have picked up from this forum. Today I learnt what ROR meant and how it is used. Thank you Balinbear.

Well here is one to "think about" I was of the understanding ROR= rose under review    

"Unidentified found roses are usually given study names in double inverted commas; in the photo galleries and Rose Index on this website, they are denoted by ROR (renamed old rose) after the study name."

Our garden is a labour of love. It takes up about 2 acres (this includes the house carport etc) but as we are getting it all sorted out we are hoping the work load reduces a bit. We grow a lot of our own perennials etc so that takes a bit of time and we are opening the garden as part of the Australian Open Garden Scheme in May 2015 so we are pretty busy at present with some major work going on.
