Tea Roses in Flower

I have 3 Lovely Tea Roses that have come into flower. We are having a very Hot Windy Day here today and I have just heard we can expect storms tonight, so I hope my Teas and other Rose Blooms are going to hold up.

Lovely Dianne. How big does Mrs B R Cant grow? This year I have planted Francis Dubrueil. Can't wait for her buds to open. Do you have it?

Mmmmmm, thanks Jordan. I will be very happy if my Francis is as good as that. I love that dusky shade. Would you say the colour is true? Some reds can appear a different shade in photos. How would you describe the perfume?

the colour is even better then what the camera shows silky , perfume is old rose . strong to medium. in general its a great rose

Thanks Jordan. Now I'm even more impatient. She's still little but has several buds. Looks like a delicate bush.

sure is , you will find it its a bit slow at first, once its establish with reward you with beautiful blooms

Not sure if I would call it delicate. The flowers are usually a lot larger than Dianne's photo and it can grow quite large. The climber can be magnificent though. The trellis in the photo is 2 metres high

Sorry Silky, I did post a thread to tell you the approx. height of mature Mrs B R Cant but don't know what happened to it (must be Gremlins in the system).

Our Duchesse de Brabant/Comtesse de Labarthe is about to flower which is interesting as our 'Constance Spy' has yet to flower with only very small buds on it.

It's a strange year. We would normally have thousands of flowers on our Comtesse de Labarthe (we have about 60-70 of them and they get covered in flowers) but so far its only a few that have really taken off and started flowering.

I guess that is the penalty you pay for leaving the plants to their own devices.

No I didn't say my Mrs B R Cant is that big, mine is still a relative baby. I was just letting Silky know the projected height....

Silky it will grow approx. 2.5m x 2.5m   Hope this thread doesn't get lost in cyberspace.  

Balinbear, thank you for the photos - they are just lovely and I love Maman Cochet even more!! Early photos of bushes/climbers can be deceptive can't they?! This one is going on my list for when I can find a suitable spot!! Hmmm!!

Silky when I run out of space I train my roses and other plants into Espalier or Topiary. I have done this to quite a few. Its fun.....  

Dianne, espalier or topiary? Moi? Surely you jest.
I think the plants themselves would laugh themselves silly if they saw me attempt either of these. Haven't got the patience to convince plants to grow in a way that is foreign to their natural inclination, not to mention mine. It's just now after years of gardening that I have started some small box hedges. Don't get me wrong. I admire other people's efforts with these techniques but they're just not me.

Now Silky, You do plant Roses that have been grafted that is foreign to their natural inclination..  Ha, Ha, He, He....
