Just purchased a bare rooted Baronne Edmond de Rothschild from Bunnings for under $10. It was on a whim as I am sure most of you can relate to haha so now I am hoping it is not a dud! Thoughts?

The Baronne is 180 degrees away from dud-dom Very Happy I got two on recommendation from this board last season. I expected nice, I didn't expect wow. This beauty is woweee. Flowers profusely, and the dusty mid pink is just ethereally lovely. Great cutting rose, goes with almost everything, lovely scent. Easy to grow, puts up with all sorts of neglect.

Rosy, $10, what a bargain! The Baronne is one that I've ordered based on recommendations here so I can't wait to see it blooming. I don't think I've heard a bad thing about it. Sometimes things are meant to be I reckon, so impulse buys may just be destiny. I think that Baronne picked you! Lol

We have the B shop here as well as the the Wbig shop, all plants come the one supplier in SA, quality does vary, if anything the Wbig shop might be a bit better.

Maree, it is a name of a girl and/or her father. They are strictly wholesale growers for the chainstore market. I am trying to find it, it sounds like Roslyn(not correct spelling) If anyone sees body bags in chainstore type environ, it is written on them.

Roseman the the company is called the Rose Company from SA and as you say they supply chainstores.I have a few roses from them and other people also and they have been fantastic guys.At the end of the day no matter were you buy your roses from chainstores,Rose growers nurserys etc they all have duds in batches. It's the case if you pick your roses to pick healthy and strong one's simple.

I actually bought a Baronne Edmond de Rothschild from the Big store for $7.60 bred from the Rose Company yesterday and healthy as any.

Danny, we had one in this garden years ago and found it strong in the perfume department.
As for Thomas', I have only bought a couple of plants from them, but were very good plants.
