Rainbow Bridge Empty Rainbow Bridge

Post by betsyw 6th May 2013, 18:46

Just moving my own post to this quiet little grassy knoll ...

The price of love is grief, I think. And that applies in profound measure to beloved pets.

Carole, who has been extraordinarily kind with information on Papillon breeders, has seen this pic of my recently lost Rosie. In the absence of a Rainbow Bridge thread, I am going to burden the rest of you with it ;-))) (Forget the tatty rugs - it's a grooming place)

Hi,
she was a pretty little girl, wasn't she? She looks very young in the photo.
So sorry you had to say goodbye. It's never easy.

Barbara, how kind of you to respond! Yes, Rosie had beauty and brains, and a strong prey drive in a small body ;-) Glamour and guts.

She looks like a delicate mimsey little lapdog in this pic, but she thought she was a border collie ;-) She had huge character and heart, but alas, that heart also had a Grade Three murmur. One rainy night two weeks ago, it just gave out. She was only 7 years old.

As I said to the magnificent Carole, Rosie wags her plumed tail at you across the Rainbow Bridge

Very sad news Betsy. Sorry to hear about it. Time we had a rose named for our little unsung heroes/heroines.

I'm getting a bit teary just reading this thread. Betsy, only 2 weeks ago? You must be overwhelmed by sadness. A feisty little girl by the sounds of it.
You asked after my beautiful boy Sam. Here he is, a gentle boy, funny and loving. Had a stint in the show ring as a youngster and won lots of trophies, but he just loved the applause. Best of all he loves following the sun in the garden and playing chasey and wrestling with Sonny the Jack Russell. He has a real sense of humour and enjoys nudging me when I'm bent over working in the garden. Then a bit of a lick as if to say "sorry, just couldn't resist. Don't waste your time on these weeds, pat me instead"

Recently diagnosed with bone cancer, so his days are numbered. Every day he makes me smile.

Oh soulful Sam, I reach through the pages to stroke your adorable head. Everything your Human tells me about you is so clearly written on your face, in your eyes. And your expression also tells me that you know just how much you are loved.

Hi,
there's nothing as lovely as a loved old dog. I know they don't live as long as us, but they are so dear that we come back each time for more of their special brand of love and their company. Give Sam an extra cuddle from me. KD looks like she was ready to go - sometimes it's hard to tell - it's eaasier when it's so clear-cut.
I always feel it's the last good thing you can do for a good dog.....and they can go with peace and dignity. RIP all the good dogs.

Thank you Betsy and Barbara and Dan for your kind words and the feeling behind them. Soulful Sam, yes good description Betsy, he is exactly that. And yes he is getting lots of love and special cuddles, and still able to enjoy them. I treasure each day with him.
Jordan, a sad picture of KD. She looks peaceful and ready to go. It's so hard to make that decision isn't it, but it's the kindest thing we can do for them. Pity we don't extend that to humans.

RIP KD and Rosie and all faithful friends across the bridge.

It's so hard, my sympathies to all I know what it's like. I had to make the decision to let my faithful cat Sukie who was 18 years old,go. I could see she was strugging and I asked the vet if I was doing the right thing, and he said a lot of people will go to any length to keep their pet alive but in the end you have to ask yourself are you doing it for them or for you.
Estate I hope your lttle one is ok.

Sad as it is to see a doggie unconscious on the vet's table, it's also just lovely to see how well cared for she is - the well groomed coat, the IV pumping in electrolytes, painkillers, antibiotics, and the life-giving oxygen to make her breathing easy.A lotta love there.

Oh I do hope she is OK Cheryl. You feel so helpless when they are sick, just willing them to get through it and ultimately let them go with love when the time comes.
Happy Roses, I can sense your sadness still for your cat Sukie. So many years later I still shed a tear when I think of my beloved cat Moushka that I rescued as a kitten, just a few days old, still in her mother's mouth in the middle of the road, having been run over. She lived for an amazing 16 years and never believed she was a cat. I still miss her.
