Blackberry Nip Update Empty Blackberry Nip Update

Post by maree 19th April 2013, 11:24

Latest update on Blackberry Nip rose , planted it bare root last July- August i think , at first , no fragrance , small flowers , nice colour though , now the fragrance is more pronounced , not strong , but sweetly mild , flowers bigger too . I'm wondering if this rose is a cool weather rose , as it has performed much better since the cooler weather arrived..

Generally speaking, I've found the quality of my autumn flush roses to be better than the spring/summer if the spring/summer was hot like we had.

I suspect the Nip might like a nip in the air!

Because of it's colour spectrum it is quite possible BN might like a cooler spot in gardens. For those that have it how did it perform in early Spring.

No difference here. Other roses have come on strong as the weather cools, but BN's three autumn blooms aren't anything to write home about. I'm keeping it for another year, but I'm not knocked sideways by it (yet).

I think maybe being a NZ rose , it could like a nip in the air as Bonita says ,i'll be keeping a watchful eye on it , i do like the colour though , am hoping the fragrance developes a bit more too ...

Mine has always done well, but I cut it back a couple of months ago and now it has gone nuts! I do agree that it likes cooler weather and not a lot of rain.

Wow. You know, I'd forgotten I had BN, that's how much it impressed me last year. Hope it lifts its game this year, or I might forget it permanently.
