Does anyone know whether there is a list of rose varieties ever imported into Australia somewhere, who to contact, that kind of thing? I wonder if quarantine (AQIS) would be the best bet to contact???

Simon. I have 2 names in Canberra, one is good and the other is a bit slow to respond. I will pass them on direct. If he does not know he will find someone that could help.

Thanks David, I'm wanting to know if Rosa persica, 'Persian Sunset' (or any of the other Persian series such as 'Persian Flame', "Persian Autumn', 'Persian Light', or 'Persian Peach'), or 'Tigris' has ever been imported. Of these I'd really like to know if 'Tigris' is here followed by Rosa persica. My Ruston's catalogue hasn't arrived yet. Can someone with a catalogue see if any of these are available through them?

That's a beautiful rose too (if you don't mind a bit of blackspot)... I'm particularly after the hybrid hulthemia (Euphrates is here but is reported to be sterile... I'm going to try it on everything I've got though when it arrives this winter).

Last night I ordered 'Euphrates' and I'm going to use this one a lot... because almost everyone I've spoken to has said it is infertile... so I'm going to try it on EVERYTHING hoping that I stumble upon a combination that might work. I'm assuming 'Euphrates' is diploid (based on the ploidy of its parents) so I'm going to try it on my best diploid and tetrapolid seed parents that seem to take pollen from anything and try it with other species roses (would really like to try it with R.gigantea).
