Whats ailing my children

It's enough to make you want to give up...just when everything going along
ok ish...then within what seems only 4-5 days...disaster strikes...it's like flippin autum in just a few days..

Please peoples your advice is greatly needed....the photos are just a sample of whats happening in the ground and in pots...

most of it is BS Paul and some are trace element deficiency....and I think I know your next question...try strikeback for orchids for your pots...

Thanks neptune...I have fertilised the pots with strike back and the garden with sudden impact.

what do you think is causing the browning off on the leaves? I'm still struggling with the ph in the garden...however the problem I've got now is in all the roses pots as well..

Do you suggest I buy a bag of trace elements and apply that to everything..it's like they are all water starved but there not...

Are they over fertilized? Have you sprayed them with anything?

I don't think so...we didn't get much rain but we did get the gail force winds though...do you think it could be a bit of wind burn? I'm interested about the trace ellements... I can't work it out..even the roses I got from Dawsons on saturday are now suffering with the same problems

wind burn and now sun burn....just spray them with seasol every 5 days for a couple of weeks and see if they come back......also water twice a day the pots

Thanks again...with the seasol what mix ratio..I think I read some where 4-5 mls per Lt water...I havn't been watering twice a day..when my water metre reads number 10 I wasn't watering...i was doing every second day...in the garden bed I have been doing once a week because of the plastic corflu

Pots need to be watered everyday. I only do mine once in the afternoons but if I don't the leaves go brown and they start to die. The wind doesn't help but wouldn't be the only problem. I rarely water the roses in the garden. Are you over fertilising?

with seasol, just go by the directions.....unfortunately pots need to be water every day

water your pots everyday paul. they have deep roots. from the pics it looks to me , have you over fed them paul ?

That's what I asked Jordan, but no one is replying to me .. LOL. Looks like over feeding and lack of water. I tend to only use liquid fertilisers in this heat because anything else burns.

IMO, it isn't over feeding unless it is on the young growth that we can not see. Paul can we have a shot of the youngest leaf growth. As for water, have you got a length of pipe, a piece of poly if possible then you could cut it open, if so try and push it down into the soil mix and extract a core sample. The other option would be to pull an entire plant ball out of one that might be going into a bigger pot and check the wetness.

I concur with you dave as to the overfeeding.....Paul is using strikeback which is an organic fert...thats why I didn't mention it.....watering would be an issue at this moment

It may not be over feeding but in this heat pellets burn. That's why I only use them in winter because I had the same problem he is having ..

This season I have been using only Seasoil and Powerfeed on my young roses and have no problem with that and gave me great results.Got to be very carefull with pellet fertiliser in this hot summer will burn them.Also good be the strong sun and hot winds also.Keep the pots moist Paul.

Thanks for your imput roseman..I water my pots till they start to drain out the bottom..if it takes to long to drain I apply liquid amgro wettasoil..I also use a water metre.. not just to get a reading but to see how damp the prongs are well I pull them out..in the garden I do the same thing.. however I do dig down as well to check...

Hi roseman the leaf in the black circle below I bought 2 weeks ago and repotted the same day...I have also noticed the 2 roses I bought on saturday
( a sir donald bradman and a chameleon ) are now just showing just slightly the sames signs as the others.

2. What wind speed/direction

Paul - Be careful of repotting/planting in this heat. Nothing I repot in this QLD heat survives. I had the same problem last year when I fertilised with pellets in summer. Have you fertilised with pellets? All my roses lost their leaves and looked like this.

Paul, are there any signs of spider mite?
