Thats an idea Jac...run it as an experiment and take photos every two weeks and note any changes (pros and cons)......should give us a good idea on how this all comes to fruition......

I have a very healthy geranium growing with my Mystery Yellow and will keep an eye on it, taking photos as soon as any changes appear …

Well, I've done it, my first atempt at fixing the ph levels for my roses.
It took a while doing the ph testing, 28 pots, and I did 2 tests per plant in the garden, 14 roses 28 tests.

As a result I applied apple cider vinegar to all the roses in the garden, at a
level of 7.5mls vinegar to 1lt water and put 6 litres of mix for each rose.

As for the pots out of the 28, 10 received 30gms of garden lime with a good soaking of water, and pot received a dose of vinegar as per the garden roses with about 3lts of mix.

Well I guess, and I'm not quite sure I should do follow up testing in say 7 days....some advice on this would be appreciated. Total Phosphorus - Page 3 206144310

Lime, when used in the garden, can take a long time to travel down through the profile. (Tests done a few years ago put the rate as 1cm per *year*) Our subsoil is pretty acid so I've been inclined to add a little lime at the bottom of the hole when I plant a rose. But if 4.5 is okay... I won't bother in future. Razz I'll stick to the gypsum instead which still provides the calcium and helps break up the clay.
In aquariums, it is more common to use sodium bicarbonate (bi-carb soda) to raise pH as it dissolves much easier and therefore has a very quick result. In the garden though it isn't an option - we don't usually want to add more sodium to the soil!
