Re: My Lifes Work
David, I’ve never actually hosted a page of my own, and can’t comment on the various hosting options; just played around with the programs when I got new computers, and found them mind-blowingly easy and fun to use; fascinating.
I’d imagine different hosting options all have their own advantages and disadvantages, and probably would look into that before going ahead, i.e., if free, how free; and how easy is it to pull the site down again, if I come up with better over time, etc., just pulling theses out of the air; best to ask somebody who knows.

Re: My Lifes Work
Webdesign and hosting is not as simple and easy as many might think. There is a lot to think about and not just the free / paid option. There can be limitations to how much traffic to the website, what you can and cannot do. You might want a flash gallery but the website don't support it, you want a forum, but you cant have an sql-database, you created the page using certain options not available with your host, do they do backups, how is their support. What will happen if your site gets hacked?
Creating one can be easy enough on your local computer, its when it comes to you options/limitations it is harder. Often free sites have heaps of limitations and they always comes with advertising of some sorts and you might not want that.
Just a thought along the way

Re: My Lifes Work
I was also thinking in terms of just getting something vs. better than nothing out there, a hook for all those pictures and a name for people to remember, but in the long term it’s obviously always better to do things right from the start (unless that free site can be pulled down as fast and easily as it got up there).
But yes, Rose-Anna, all those suspect ads that could really cramp the style was exactly on my mind when I heard “free”; and you’ve mentioned several other important considerations. Maybe an online album, with room for brief descriptions, and that offers opportunities for visitors to vote or leave comments, is a better option at this early stage.

Re: My Lifes Work
There you go, a creppy site is still better than no site at all; and has no adverse long-term consequences.

You are a page 10 pin up boy in the journal which I received just yesterday in the mail. Prinnie appeals to me as does Arahan 2008 and Kiss the Sun

Re: My Lifes Work
Howdy Bonita; Prinnie flowered right up untill late june, one of its parents is Queen Of Bourbons. I don't use any Bourbons as most of the offspring either got BS or PM really badly. Prinnie was the only one I kept as it was the only clean growing out of many. Prinnie has flowering bracts with around 20 blooms per bract.
Arahan when in full bloom is spectacular. Kiss the Sun get pretty loaded with blooms as well.
