Re: info on the following
I'm always forgetting the compost. I do add BB, potash, and chicken manure (Dynamic Lifter). Drainage is no problem, or hasn;t been, so I skip the extra perlite. Is this sufficient, or do I reallyreally need compost for improved results?

Re: info on the following
all potting mix has a certain NPK ratio. When you add additives to the potting mix, you are doing so for a reason. By doing so you alter the NPK ratio.....most potting mix starts of at a ratio of 0.10-0.05-0.05 which is very basic. Now if you add
Ordinary Dynamic Lifter 3.7-2-1.8 or
Dynamic Lifter for Roses 10-2-12 then add
Fish Emulsion 5-3-3 then top it up with
Blood and Bone 12.2-2.9-8.5.
When you add up the lowest of numbers, you come up with a
NPK Ratio of 21: 7.95: 13.3 or if we go highest then we end up with a
Ratio of 27.3: 7.95: 23.55.
Now we are looking for a ratio of 1:2:1 or 1:2:2. Since the above two ratios don't comply with the ideal ratio, you will end up hurting the plant , especially the roses because you have a Nitrogen value that will almost kill the plant. You will also noticed that the "P" value is very low and that is the one we look at to help with our root growth.
So IMHO I would suggest you have a look at what you are putting in the potting mix......

Thanks Neptune, for creating a link of Warren’s Life Work where we can enjoy just looking at the pics in one go, without all our excited chatter in between and having to flip pages.
