I see that it does not climb and is actually compact being smaller than Baronne Edmond de Rothschild.

Yep she is a shorty compared with the parents , foliage is very noisette china like as well and blue tinged

Hi Neptune, I Emailed David (Roseman) just over a week ago and outlined how time consuming my hobbies and life in general has become.
Also mentioned I would not be posting at the previous rate but would look in from time to time. Also went to a rose exhibition just prior to contacting him and found rose sales to be very poor which could be blamed on the economy or roses being very high maintainence. Also the unhealthy concoctions recomended in their care brochure. Native plants seem to have replaced roses in numerous Sydney front gardens for the above reason and councils recomending low water useage plants.
For the above reasons I suggested breeders try to reverse this trend by concentrating on breeding very disease resistant plants which is one of my main hobby horses. Further more breeders consider testing in inland NSW as satisfactory to guage disease resistance doesn't do it for me. I must add my seedlings are tested within 5klm from the surf on the central coast.
Lucky me to have this facility available and can claim very disease resistance results from the selected seedlings this season. There were some that failed due to fungus that will end up on the bonfire this winter.
My property is overgrown and out of control, also 550 grafted roses to dig and put into 8" pots. I explained to David how hectic life has become and at my age need to take it a bit easy. Despite this have not heard from David so can only think my posting has had little value for the forum.

I do miss your contributions, and will sorely miss you if you leave. You helped me alot with information and contacts and you don't even know me personally.

You are right in one respect...rose growing is a dying art, as house blocks are getting smaller and young couples are more interested in doing other things than attending to their gardens. And yet as I am getting older, I'm looking for more property...strange isn't it

I went to have a sniff but both flowers are blown. It's not Margaret Merrill - I have that rose. We'll need to wait for another flush of flowers now. Thank you for your help so far.

This is turning out to be a MYSTERY rose, not just a mystery rose! It is fascinating watching as roses are ruled out, or set aside with a query mark...

I agree with Neptune too regarding the amount we learn from you folk even when you don't know us and vice versa, just watching and reading, following along the threads, you are teaching and helping more than just those immediately involved.

Barbara I think your rose is French Lace, If you go on HMF and look through all the pics, there is a great variation of colour. This variation could be the result of different growing conditions around this big planet. There are alot of pics on this site which look like yours even down to the foliage type as well.

I've been there and found ones that looked like it too. Some are so different to other people's French Lace, that I wonder about the labelling. Time will tell. When it starts a new growth spurt, I guess I'll find out whether it's a climber of a bush.

Barbara climate conditions , such as temperature and light intensity can influence colour differences. Even soil types can change things slightly, when it finds it legs and starts powering away just sit back and enjoy.
