Lamarque?
Hi,
I bought this one as French Lace. Do you think it could be Lamarque?

Re: Lamarque?
I don't think so. Lamarque has a touch of lemony yellow in the centre and the leaves are much paler green than your pic is showing.

Hi,
I see what you mean - there's no greeny colour in the centre.

Re: Lamarque?
Barbara, I have been looking at different whites that resemble you 'Lamarque?', is it possible it might be "Sombreuil". Just a thought. What sort of size are we talking of with it and do you have any shots of the leaves, this might help.

Re: Lamarque?
Hi,
OK, I just took some more photos. I'm sorry the ones of the thorns aren't really clear.

Re: Lamarque?
Hi,
what do you think of the bud beside the flower in the photo 9613?
I think it looks like it could be French Lace. Maybe the open flower is a sport? On HMF it says its parents are Dr A J Verhage and Bridal Pink and it's certainly not like either of them.

Re: Lamarque?
Barbara, I do not grow "french Lace", but the pictures on HMF seem to have a lot of pink tones in them, I know soils can change that, does yours have it in it

Re: Lamarque?
Gary, as you are our homegrown teaman, do you think it has 'tea' type leaves.

Then that should eliminate "French Lace" I think.

Re: Lamarque?
Hi,
this is a photo I just took and you can see the bud looks like French Lace. The open flower doesn't, and they're definitely on the same bush, but on different branchlets. The thorns on both branches are the same. You can also see some green now in the heart of the open flower.

Hi,
go to HMF French Lace and look at the photos from Debstwin. They look a bit like mine but not like the others under that name. What do you think?

Re: Lamarque?
Barbara, the left one does look a bit like "French Lace", but I think not, the one on the right, not sure.
I wonder if Wendy has a photo of an open bloom to see if it opens like yours on the right.
Barbara, it might take time, but we will come up with the right rose, thats the fun in tracing the "rose".
One other thing Barbara, is there any chance of photos of the last full set of leaves and to the top of the bud.

Re: Lamarque?
I know this is not "Lamarque", but what the heck, I have just "walked" Deb through posting photos. She happened to be on this thread.
Any guesses what the name of Deb's rose is.

Re: Lamarque?
OK,
here are the leaves.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
and this is the bush. It's scrawny and I'm nursing it; that's the state it was in when I bought it.
