Rambling rose.
Does anyone know what this rose is ?
I call it " the very pretty pink rambling rose with lots & lots of thorns"
She only flowers in spring with the odd flower during summer.

Re: Rambling rose.
Carole, could this be Albertine? Other than that, the only other rose that comes to view in my mind is Madame Grégoire Staechelin.
I grew both in my former garden, and if it is Albertine, be prepared for a house eater, MGS was a fairly tame grower for me but equally as beautiful at Albertine.

Re: Rambling rose.
My 'Albertine' has a slight yellow/orange tinge to it... when I first saw it I thought 'New Dawn'.. but I don't think it is.
Re: Rambling rose.
Looks like Albertine. Spring flush with odd flower through summer.
I think New Dawn flowers a bit more regularly than that. It supposed to but the ones we had growing(?) did not flower all that much. In fact they did not do too much at all apart from get blackspot and drop the few leaves they ever had.

Re: Rambling rose.
I have Albertine, just getting to the end of her run this year, and the colour of the buds in picture no.3 makes me pretty certain Albertine is what you have. IMO the combination of the deep peachy buds with the pale pink flowers is what makes her so beautiful.
Definitely not New Dawn, which blooms very well in Katoomba and Sydney and doesn't have that colour contrast. She has a big flush in spring and thereafter a few flowers pretty well all the time.

Albertines are easy. You plant them somhwere that can support them and thats just about it.

Re: Rambling rose.
But like many ramblers, especially with wichurana blood, it needs to be kept up off the ground. Otherwise it will root down and you'll get colonies leapfrogging towards the horizon.

Love "leapfrogging towards the horizon"! That's just what my Pinkie has been doing the past couple of years.
